players no longer have the choice of what team they will represent in the hall of fame

The Hof F makes the choice. Goes back to when Wade Boggs was getting paid off by the Devil Rays to go in as a Ray

The only pitcher to throw more spitballs than Maddux was Gaylord Perry. The unbelievable control Maddux had on the spitter was amazing. My favorite pitcher ever.

How does anyone NOT vote for Maddux on the first ballot?
How can he not go in with 100% of the vote?
I never get some of the voters logic on first ballot voting where no player should ever be a unamious selection

I have followed him since he was a rookie with the Cubs. A true gamer. I too , will miss him greatly.

The same kind that didn't vote for Nolan Ryan. "Experts" that were cut from being water boy in junior high that now have a column.

While Ryan is a Hall of Famer, he is not on the same level as Maddux. I can justify not voting for Ryan (though I certainly would have voted for him).
I think the closest anyone has come to going in unanimously is Seaver. Only five people didn't vote for him. Two were protesting Rose not being on the ballot and one DIDN'T REALIZE SEAVER WAS ON THE BALLOT. Which is even worse, I think. The other two suck out loud.
Seriously, how can you not vote for Maddux for the Hall of Fame? It's like when Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn didn't go in unanimously. You know Rickey won't go unanimously this time. It's ridiculous.

i'm gonna go out of a limb and say maddux goes in unanimously
Posted on 12/5/08 at 6:16 pm to beauchristopher
I don't think that will ever happen

Maddux is a class act. His command is what made him such a great pitcher. He was fun to watch if you liked watching picthers. He is no doubt a Hall of Famer and is probably one of the last great pitchers in baseball.
