gimmie putt.

8 footers are gimmies now?

A pga pro’s make percentage on an 8 ft putt is about 50%.

Add in the pressure with crowd and Tiger breathing down your back, and it drops even more.

Far from a gimme at that point

Has Tiger mentioned what happened on his approach at 18?

I've heard it mentioned he may have clipped a tree branch, but it sounded strange off the club, and Tiger's follow through really looked awkward and like he may have been trying to over-exaggerate an outside-in to fade the ball.

Strange that with all the camera shots and coverage in the tournament and the importance of that shot, there were no replays or breakdowns of what happened on that one.

He knew bogey was winning him the tournament. He was hitting an over exaggerated cut where his only miss was short right in the fairway. No chance of short siding himself, no chance of a ball plugged in the bunker.

If he needs to make par he hits a completely different shot. Put himself in a place where he makes bogey or better 99 times out of 100. It was the smart play.

It’s amazing how few people know this. I feel like majority of people in the world consider it a choke when you miss an 8 footer in a big moment.

Chilling on the mantel above the fireplace. Same place he has been since he died in 2014.

The good thing is he hasn't had a drink in 5 years.

good one - Reminds me of the guy who kept asking me "how's your dad doing?" (my dad had been seriously stricken with cancer before dying in 1979)

After about the 5th time he asked inside of a month after my dad died, I responding "he's still dead" and he never asked again.

I don't think I buy that

Don't get me wrong, Tiger played smart all day, but that particular shot didn't have the degree of difficulty necessary for the swing and result that was produced.

Tiger verbatim said that. He also mentioned there was a little mud on the ball so he was taking ZERO chances

Said he was watching Koepkas putt as well to make his final decision.

He may have been a little bit more aggressive without mud on the ball, but he still would have bailed out right. It was the smart play.

The chip he hit would have been far more aggressive if he needed a par. He left it way out to the right.

For sure. He had 15 feet to the right of that as well for the slope to funnel it back towards the hole.
