Golf: adding lead tape to a driver

I am currently hitting the Ping G30 with an Aldila RIP stiff flex tipped .5" so it plays a little stiffer. I don't want to go X flex because I don't want to spend money (have you seen the price of oil lately) and I don't want to swing that hard because I will blow out my back. I have been fighting a slice lately which is killing my scores because I'm hitting everything but driver really well. I was reading about the Ping G30 SF tec (straight flight technology) and they added more weight toward the heel allowing the toe to come through faster helping someone who slices the ball. In theory adding some lead tape toward the heel would accomplish the same thing right? I'm afraid I would start duck hooking everything. What would be some negatives of doing this other than having to get used to the heavier club?
I know the problem is in my swing. I'm pulling my hands through at impact instead of letting my wrists come through like they are supposed to. With my job and wife and three kids I don't have time to practice and I only play once a week. I don't want to skip the money game to practice so I'm looking for a short term fix until I can fix my swing
Eta: that's really long. I probably wouldn't read it either.

Worst case, you take the tape off.
Is the G30 adjustable?

It will be a couple of weeks before I can get back to the course to get a video. I have to go to west Texas tomorrow

Damn, the last time I heard about adding lead tape was when Jimmy Conners put it on his T2000 tennis racket about 50 years ago.

Only the loft is adjustable. +\- 1°

Usually going down opens the face a bit. Try that before using lead tape. Also if you use the tape and it comes off during a round, you can't use the club the rest of the round.

Wouldn't I want to close the face? I have it turned up to 9.6° from the 9° standard loft setting. I can go up one more notch to 10°

Sorry thought you were fighting a hook. Yeah you want to close it.

A one ounce strip of tape helped ruined a sweet swing of a NELA golfer - get the problem fixed.
