For me, not really. I was still extremely vested into every Ohio State game the year Tressel got canned and they ended up with a terrible season for their standards. Their games are like Christmas morning for me. I fricking love it regardless of their record.

I never said most people feel the same way I do. I posted my personal preference and then got replies like I was trying to convince others. I don't really give a shite what people like more.

I frequently watch older Alabama games that the team lost

The teams change so much from year to year. I love going back and watching past seasons and the players that came through the program.

I can list 15 massive plays/moments in Alabama football in just the past ~5 years alone. Since Saban hasn't been there, much more than that.

How many NFL teams can say the same? One? Probably none because of how meaningless the regular season is.

ETA: Put Alabama down a score late in the 3rd and you have more drama than 99% of regular season NFL games. College football is more exciting.

i can also go back and re watch laker or dodger playoff games even when they didnt have the best record in the sport. can i say that about college football? nope. because the way its set up, its meaningless if your school isnt one of the four who only lose one game

You also have to think, you're fricking Ohio State. Do people usually wake up rock hard with a boner at the thought of Ohio or Toledo football? Frick no.

I'm sure there are thousands like you for every big team in a power 5 conference but Division I football is made up of 120 teams or so and not all of them have the same opportunities. You really think Central Michigan is going to pull the same recruits or have the same type of resources as Michigan? Hell there have been some seasons where CM has had a better record than UM but will never even come close to being what they are. How is that fair? Where is the parity?

My point is this, team's in power 5 conferences have an unfair advantage. They have history, resources, boosters, facilities, money and other things that smaller programs need to compete and make it even. And those are things they will never have. In the NFL everything is pretty much fair. The teams that suck get their picks of some of the best college talent and have plenty of money to pour into FA. There is also a Cap on how much teams can spend to keep things fair.

. I can't do this. Hell, I have the Cardale playoff run on my DVR and still fast forward through the portions of the games where Alabama and Oregon got momentum swings.

i said the concept of the regular season meaning everything absolutely drives down the interest in the regular season if your school isnt winning that year. especially for schools like a&m who dont have a rival or any real game with another school with interesting recent history

if a&m is winning and the games are meaningful, then thats great. it makes it a lot more fun

if a&m isnt winning and has already been eliminated from playoff contention by the start of october, why should i be interested in watching us battle arkansas for the who gives a shite bowl in depressionville, mississippi?

I love the way this is all framed

What if Alabama is 8-4 and out of both the National Title race and SEC title race and are playing 7-5 Florida?

What drama is there? Whereas you have an 8-4 Cowboys and 7-5 Giants with the winner likely taking a lead for a wildcard spot or potentially a lead in the division and there is plenty of drama.

You also have to think, you pull for Alabama and they've won a lot. Is a person who is a die hard Iowa Hawkeye fan going to go back and re-watch games? I doubt it

I'm not comparing the systems for both levels at all. Of course the NFL is better designed for parity. Anyone that argues otherwise is dumb.

It's all a personal preference. Regardless of whatever pro you list about the NFL, you will never convince me it's more enjoyable to watch (for me personally) than college football.

The problem is you are completely ignoring how relative everything is to each fan. You can be a fan of a team that is shitty but get excited about the potential of just getting to a bowl game. That might seem stupid to many fans who root for the top teams in college football.

I mean you say that but there are plenty of fans outside the P5 that love watching their team make them.

Is that really a strong argument?

You were the one that said shitass teams get excited over their teams making bowl games. But if that were the case then maybe Boston College and Maryland fans could have shown up for that bowl game they played.

I think it was less than half full when they played. I'm pretty sure anyway.

You have to go to a game to get excited about it? Plus I mentioned schools outside the Power 5 because you were bringing up some mac teams in my first response to you.

I not even arguing that CFB is better than NFL, was just describing why teams that have no chance to compete with the bigger schools can still enjoy the season.

I went to Ohio State. That's where my allegiance lies. And yes, every year they're good.

If I'd gone to BGSU my allegiance would lie there and I'd have different expectations. But I don't. I went to Ohio State. So my expectations are high.
