Garcia now wants to start for Oakland

As expected, Garcia is no longer content being the back-up/mentor and now wants to start at Oakland. Russell better get his act together quickly. Once Garcia gets the job, he'll keep it for a while.

that's not really what he said

Maybe JR can get better by watching how Garcia approaches games and the time effort he puts into game planning each week?

show me a guy that's content with not starting and I'll show you a loser. This isn't real shocking IMO.

Not shocking but this is the first real threat to JR in the 2 yrs he's been there. This may well be Russell's last shot at Oakland.

Dude. He's started ONE year as the youngest QB in the league.
There is ZERO doubt in my mind that JR has gotten the shortest leash I've EVER seen for a QB.
It's ridiculous. A guy like John Elway completed less than 55% of his passes and it took him 4 seasons until he had more TDs than INTs, but yet Russell is having his "last shot"
Just ridiculous.

3rd year in league which is pretty much minimum now days.
Unless JR progresses enough this season Garcia will take over and JR's next contract will be as a back-up.

And that is the problem.
Again, look at John Elway. After 10 years in the leauge, he had 158 TDs and 157 INTs, mostly on terrible offensive teams. He finally gets some guys around him, and puts a few really good seasons together.
I don't care how many years it is, until he has a stable offense around him, Russell should never be on his "last chance", unless he's putting up Alex Smith type numbers, lol.

Well Russell has to be willing to put in the extra work also. I mean since he came into the league thats all I continue to hear. He has all the physical tools but does not want to study hours of film. Something differentiates the good QB's from the great ones.
I mean look in NFL right now those QB's that are considered elite and known to spend hours in film room and learning nuances of offense and the defense they are facing the next week.
Does JR do that or does he still rely on natural talent?

Garcia's one gutsy mofo. I wouldn't want him being my backup.

I am still waiting?
Obviously I am going with not bright since its a completely new crew who got rid of alot of players.
Not like Garcia was bad last year
2712 yards 12 TD 6 INT in only 12 games

yeah, lets see, JR still has 3 more seasons after this coming season. Garcia turns 40 in Jan.
Sure Garcia will take over and JR will bound to be the back-up for the rest of his life.

Yeah, you're the one already calling for JR to be a career backup once Garcia takes over the starting role.

When did I say that? I think my exact words are
quote:

So unless reading comprehension is a problem, tell me where I said Russell should be a career backup?

Pretty dumb statement IMO.
