NOTE: This Interview was given before BIG 10 news.

Liability Answer begins at 8:45 mark. LINK

Cliffs:

Players know they can out of the season and won't lose eligibility. They have that choice and have had it for a month. Our medical experts are saying now that we're good to go.

We have a semi bubble setup on campuses.
...

Will you take another school for a year to play in the SEC?

Sankey: Many legal and contractual reasons that we likely can't accept a school from another conference for only one year. That's all I can say about that publicly.

Will you go it alone if no other league plays?

Probably not.

Yeah, it would need to be some independents from the pussy conferences that were added to the general schedule.

You’re never going to see Nebraska representing the SEC East or some shite.

These teams will all have to go independent and either schedule each other or make some informal schedule agreemwnt with other conferences

They don’t have to add anyone. Everyone in the SEC just schedules them.

And there it is. Sankey has no intention of playing this year he just wants to be able to say that all the other conferences are not playing so the SEC can’t be the only one.

Just for the lulz...and ONLY for the lulz, I would like to see the SEC annex Nebraska and Oklahoma, stick them in different divisions, then have them each win the division and play in the SEC Championship game.

Then 100 years from now have someone pick up a history book and wonder WTF happened in 2020 to cause Oklahoma and Nebraska to play for the SEC title

If it’s Ohio State expressing interest I feel you have to try anything and everything to make it work. There is some matchup gold there.

I belive there are mass buyouts to leave a conference. I think Maryland paid like $40 million to leave the Big East.

Ohio State obviously has the $$ to do it, but I don't know what is in their contractual language with the Big 10.

Thats why Sankey wouldn't be specific on it. He didn't want the sec to be sued for some kind of interference in another league's business.

But if he hasn't had real internal discussions with his lawyers on this, then he's not as smart as everyone thinks. If you poach Ohio State, the big 10 folds. Because if you get Ohio State, you alos get Michigan.

Then the remaining teams would have to join with the Big 12 into some kind of super conf.

Nebraska is going to be the real test case. They're the only ones with the stones enough to actually say bye to the big 10. Iowa kind of does, too, but they don't seem to be as openly vocal about it.

Nebraska can also perfectly fit back into the big 12. Aside from the money, in sure they'd actually like playing there again because of the recruiting and old rivalries.

I'm sure Nebraska would have to pay a huge penalty to leave, but, in reality, it may be a net gain versus not playing at all.. If you have to pay $50 million to leave but you're looking at an $80 million loss w/O football and the total crumbling of your AD, then it's a no brainer.

As long as the other 3 league hold strong, Nebraska could very well pull the trigger, causing another mass realignment.

Why don’t they just 1.schedule games with the big12. 2.Don’t quit. 3.Let B10 have a hissy and eject you?

I can’t imagine that there’s a clause in their contract that says hey also if we decide to cancel your season you can’t schedule games outside of the conf.

Sure, there is certainly verbiage that would state BIG would be final approval authority for all scheduling matters or issues though
