bullshite! The institution covered this up and it's a no brainer. They deserved nothing "fairer" neither does the public in this decision.
You act like PSU and the public are victims here and they are not.
Their livelihoods and well-being are just fine after the sanctions. Same can't be said for the ones molested at PSU.

As the rational among us have pointed out, the process that the NCAA used was very flawed and sets a terrible precedent.
I'm actually hoping that the NCAA does go overboard one day leading to the major schools breaking off entirely

It's pretty sad when Penn St accepted the penalties and yet people are still complaining they were punished too harshly. I don't hear PSU complaining. They are dealing with it, as they should.
The Freeh report detailed out the most definitive example of "lack of institutional control" the NCAA has ever seen. They had every right to punish when and how they did. If they had investigated further, the most PSU could've gained was status quo. Chances are the penalties would have been worse. In a way they got off easy.

I'm curious where people are getting the notion that "competitive advantage" is the only reason the NCAA exists. Seems to be a convenient red herring that repeatedly gets thrown into Penn State debates.
