Former Archbishop Rummel star running back Derron Parquet has passed away in Garyville after a long illness over the weekend. Parquet was 35.
Parquet played at Rummel from 1996-1999, amassing 3.912 yards on 543 carries with 42 touchdowns. Parquet rushed for 300 yards against South Lafourche in 1999 and rushed for over 200 yards six times for the Raiders under Jay Roth. He remains third all-time in school history in rushing yards.

Saw the Brad Booth thread then saw this blurb. Parquet was one of the best players ive ever seen in High school and a good guy as well. Power, speed, just a thorough bred of a RB.

He had meningitis or something which has battled the last decade or so. He had been bed ridden, unable to walk, and lost a lot of weight. Pretty sad for a guy that was once built like Adonis.

He was a beast in HS. I remember being pissed he wasn't playing over Toefield and Davis in 2000.

In I wanna say 2004, I saw play in an NAIA game I was working when he played for Lindenwood University. He was a man against boys on that level for sure.

One of the best high school banks I ever saw. Him and Carey dominated Nola football in the late 1990s.

Played with or against him in all three major sports growing up and it was always this way. He was a freak of an athlete, nothing he couldn’t do.
Rest easy Derron
