The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Thursday that they have hired former Iowa strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle to join Urban Meyer’s staff as director of sports performance. Doyle and Iowa parted ways in June after allegations surfaced from former players of racial disparities within the Iowa football program, primarily involving Doyle.

Doyle, considered to be Kirk Ferentz’s right-hand man in the program, has been with Iowa since 1999 and was one of the highest-paid strength coaches in college football. According to the separation agreement reached between Doyle and Iowa, Doyle received two separate payments of $556,249.50. on August 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021, as part of the separation agreement.

Forty to 50 players came forward with allegations of racial disparities during Doyle's time at Iowa. One current player, cornerback Matt Hankins, published a story in June about an experience with Doyle.

Reporters, when you get on these Zoom calls with Urban Meyer, please don't ask him about his "controversial" hire of Chris Doyle. Ask him why he hired a guy who was fired after 20 years for multiple allegations that he made racist remarks against the players he was hired to help.

Urban on Chris Doyle: I’ve known Chris for close to 20 years. He was doing sports performances before it became a high priority in college. Coach, GM, owner vetted him thoroughly.
