Tim Tebow will probably go down as the greatest player in college football history.

Come da frick on.

See that word in bold? That's why Tebow shouldn't be on any awards shows for the "greatest of all time".

I was going to say will be, but I guess he could get injured despite being almost injury proof. At this point right now, he's still one of the greatest players ever in college sports. Like I said, there aren't too many people who are as impressive on and off the field as him. You can call him gay, cheesy, whatever, but he deserves his accolades.

So you would say that Tim Tebow is one of the five greatest athletes to ever be associated with the state of Florida?

Tebow has a chance to go down as the greatest and most decorated CF player of all time.

He already has 1 Heisman and 2 National Championships. If he wins another Heisman or NC or Both, then he will go down as the greatest ever.

As far as what they did, yes. He's made the SEC look like pop warner.

He filled in as a backup QB in the 2007 Championship. How does that give him any ownership of a national title.

If we are going to go by recent accomplishments, then I'd have to pick Urban Meyer over Tebow because Urban would have won 3 national championships in 4 years.

You guys are riding the hype wagon right now. Let him earn that 2nd heisman. Let him earn that 2nd national title and then we can start comparing him to bigger names.

If anything that's a reason to keep him off, and his NFL coaching had nothing to do with Florida. Might as well throw Shaq up there then since he won a title in Miami, a few in LA and took the Magic to the finals lol.

Absolutely not. Hasn't even touched the pros yet, and there are some excellent NFLers (HOF and future HOF) from the state of Florida.

He didn't play? He didn't get a ring?

Lol. So if the Trojans had won it in 03, 04, and 05, Carroll would be regarded as greater than Bush and Leinart?

That's like saying Ryan Perilloux won a national title. Would you say that was RP's national title or Flynn's? Who has a better claim to the QB spot in these situations.

Without Leek, NO national title in 07. It's Leek's title. Any QB with average skills could have filled in Tebow's roll in that game.

In other words: Without Tebow, Florida still has the 07 championship.

Yes. In fact he already is.

Are you asking who has better claim, or if RP won a national title? Your original post said that Tebow didn't win a national title in 06, which he clearly did. RP has a ring, so yeah, I'd say he has a national title. I didn't think titles were awarded to a select few players.

You can't even spell his name right.

UF won 5 games in 06 by a TD or less. Tebow ran the ball affectively in almost every single game.

Against LSU, a game in which UF won by 13, Tim Tebow accounted for 21 points.

Against South Carolina, a game in which UF won by 1 point, Tim Tebow rushed or a TD.

To say they would have won a title without him is not some set in stone statement.

Yes. In fact he already is.

So should the AD at USC be on the Mount Rushmore as well since he hired Carroll?

Crediting Tebow with a national Championship in 07 and using his minor contributions to prop him up as "The Greatest College Football Player Ever" is boarderline retarded.

Compelling counterpoint

My argument is that he could have not been on the team and Florida would have still won. Completely hypothetical, but nowhere near as fanciful as crediting him with 3 national championships and 2 Heisman's before his senior season is even over.

You're reaching now. I'd say no. I'd also dismiss any further suggestion that the waterboy and radio anouncer should be on a sports Rushmore because of a football team's success.

I could see the argument if Tebow redshirted his freshman year and didn't play, but he played a large role in that season. Without Tebow, I don't think Florida beats LSU.

I'd argue that Tebow is better than any of them. Spurrier caught lightning in a bottle at UF and has been unable to recreate it anywhere else.

Saban has already built a more impressive coaching resume than Spurrier in 1/2 of the time.

So, using your logic, LSU doesn't have anything to "hang there hat on" and "nothing to brag about" as you put it, since we haven't won much in basketball or baseball, and an 8-5 football season would mean the same thing right?
