In 2015 when the Rockets went to the Conference Finals and won 56 games and were the 2 seed, they predicted the Rockets were going to finish 11 games worse with 45 wins and an 8th seed.
On the other hand, in 15-16, the first year I could find projections, they predicted Houston to win 52.6 games and Houston only won 41. That’s probably because it has a historical dependency, which is why 15-16 was an overestimate and 16-17 was underestimate. And 17-18 was just a great season, and they exceeded their Pythagorean win expectation by 4 games.
