Bigtime Poker Pros, Wall Streeters, Former Athletes/Coaches/Team Owners, and Hollywood Industry Heads/Actors..dump tons of money into Costa Rican Sportsbooks.

it would be more incredible than the money Stu gambled away if it happened. Phil has to be worth around a hundred mill with his ownership in FTP and total winnings.

I love the sportsbooks myself. I was doing great on football a couple years ago. Have cooled off since then and dont bet much on sports anymore.

I would assume he has had the easiest time of keeping his bankroll together too?

ya. It's really sad when you know a lot of these guys well and watch them piss money down the drain because of their other addictions. That's part of why i said the lifestyle is awful.

Yeah I just have to figure out a way to control myself. I cost myself playing another event or two when I went to New Orleans last time. The thing I biggest regret was when I won the event in New Orleans I headed back to Shreveport that night and didnt stay and ride out to see if I could get on a streak while I was playing good.

I also heard about 3-4 years ago that someone was holding his bankroll for him and he had to get a loan from someone to get his ac fixed.
This is absolutely true. He lives in Southern Trace, so it was a big a/c job.
On a side note, I did hear on his way to Vegas this year they drove and picked up Kido Pham in Dallas. There is no telling how much money flew out the window on dumbass bets between here and Vegas.

Living in LV requires absolute discipline. There a zillion cases of easy-come-easy-go out there, in all walks of life.

so is Keith backed in pretty much every game he is in? and he got a backer for the 40k event this year?

I did this in 06 and regreted it. I had a choice from my backer to play in the 06 New Orleans ME or the LV ME. I chose New Orleans because it was sooner and I was hot. Huge mistake looking back. Course had I cashed it would have been a great one so who knows.

From what I hear, he is backed in the tourneys. I think the local cash games are his money, but not sure about the out of towners.

With your experience in the main event, with the structure and the stacks, how easy would you say it is to cash if you play close to the vest as long as you dont get coolered or bad beated?

Whoever staked him in the 40k made a good decision. Thats a huge stake though for 1 tournament.

It is. I bet most of the winnings will be gone at a Pai Gow table by the time he's back.

Believe me I know. I dumped more money than most make in a year out there in the summer of 07. I was completly foolish with my poker bankroll, playing in high limit cash games and numerous 1500, 2k, 5k dollar tournaments as well as the ME. We were also going out 3 nights a week and going to places like Delmonico's a couple times a week for dinner. You can spend a fortune in Vegas without realizing it. My 08 trip I was very diciplined. Rarely went out to drink and when I did it was to places like the Piano Bar at new York new York and even with not cashing in the ME came out ahead a good bit for the trip.

This quote from earlier in the tthread gets me really excited for my trip to play in the ME next year.

Each level is 2 hours long and you have 30,000 starting chips. If your stack is still at 30,000 going into day 3 you will still have 25bbs which is super fine in a MTT
