Would you say it was more profitable in these games than your normal game in BR?

yes much more. The game in BR is really not very good. There are only 2-3 tables and everyone knows everyone. Not to mention most have been playing the game for quite some time and don't make the same mistakes you see from tourist. Even at it's peak the Argosy/Belle was only 3-4 tables of NL. You go to a circuit event at Beau Rivage, Tunica, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Reno, Indiana, Atlantic City etc... you are usually playing with 9 guys who have no idea who you are or how you play. Not to mention a lot of those places have more than one casino with more than one poker room. You don't have to play at the Beau or Rio etc... where the circuit players are.

Last time I was in Vegas I destroyed a room at Palace Station for 3 days. Off the strip seems to be the easiest money.

I guess I will try to play more cash games on my next trip. The only time I played one on a trip was in Oklahoma and I made about 400 playing 1-2.

You tell me what your thoughts are on this play you raise with AQ flop comes rags with a 3. You check your opponent moves in and you can read him for a lot of weakness. I called.. He had A-3.

Tourney or cash game? How much did you raise? Heads up before the flop?

Those tourists and endless tables are why LV is loaded with many unknown, never seen by the public grinders that have never entered a single tournament, yet quite a few make multi-six-figures-plus.

As you note, BR boat tables, and cash games, generally have the same faces..thus all are well-versed.

I had this same discussion with a kid who didn't believe you could make a good living at 2-5. I probably coul have doubled my profits from 05-09 had I been in vegas instead of BR. I had no doubt I could continue to live off of poker out in Vegas but the lifestyle sucks.

There are quite a few easy cash games on the strip. I particularly love the game at the Wynn cause it is usually stocked with some of the most agressive players in Vegas and I can play close to the vest in a 2-5 or 5-10 no anti game and rake in. The 2-5 at the Bellagio is usually a joke as well. Ton's of tourist who like poker but don't have a clue what to do.

I've known and/or made the acquaintance of quite a few poker pros, BJ pros, sports pros, cappers, runners, beards, movers, middlers, BMs,etc..out there.

Sports got shutdown and also shipped offshore for the most part..

The card industry is where the cheese is.

Those tourists tend to suck out on me though. I had J10 and called a raise flop comes JJ rag. Drunk blackjack player fires, I call another guy calls. turn rag. Idiot ships it in. I have 300ish and call my stack off other guy has like 70 left and calls his stack off (he also had J10). The drunk had been raising and playing recklessly and i was waiting for this to happen. well he happens to actually have a hand he rolls over QQ. He was so retarded he thought me and the other guy were cheating because we both had j10. Then he yells put a queen out there and of course they do. And he started talking all kinds of shite and told them to go get him some racks and he left the table after that hand..

I've stayed there while the WSOP was in session in recent years, and watched friends sit in fold-a-thons full of pros and grinders, where there may 1 or 2 juicy pots in an entire hour..really tight tables..though plenty of bankroll was on the table..just very tight play.

The Bellagio has more action, if you have the cash to sit.

Sounds like a shorrt stack desperation move. Some guys just move in on anything when they get like that. Of course there is the opposite. I watched a guy in a 1/2 game the other night grind out $17 for an hour. He just never saw a hand he felt worthy of his last money

It used to be even better. I had the fortune of playing in casino's before my 21st birthday so I saw what live poker was like before the Moneymaker boom. I was playing online and smaller PL Holdem/Omaha games when I was very young at country clubs in Houston but I started live play seriously in 2002 and IMO there wasn't a better era in poker to make money than 2003-2005. So many people getting into it who had no idea what they were doing. Now it seems like everyone is seasoned to some extent and while you can still find retards at the table, the skill level between now and then is night and day.

Im pretty sure I played with that Clint guy in the last tournament I played in New Orleans. I popped it up with AKs and he smooth called. flop comes AK5 I bet out he ships it I call he rolls over AA. He played the hand very well, but it was a cooler for me.
