What does New Orleans offer me, other the 1 street, that I cannot find in Baton Rouge?
Not sure if serious.

That should answer your question about whether or not I agree with your geography thing.
When's the last time they matched up with your hometown team?
That's when my "geography thing" comes into play.

Plus, I currently live in Atlanta. There's no way in hell that I'm pulling for the Falcons.
I've already discussed where "hometown" can (and likely should) trump current home. This is, of course, one correct instance.

So, what professional sports city do you have a great kinship to?

Please tell me what I can go get in New Orleans that I couldn't get in either Baton Rouge?

Excellent point. My bad.
ETA: A better example, then would be the Sabres for me. Granted, I tried to at least like the Thrashers, but they hate their potential fan base. My wife is from Buffalo, so I got a hockey team.

The Saints and the Hornets.

Of which I like neither

You mean other than a shite ton of culture?
The art scene in NOLA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BR.
Ditto with music.
Of course when it comes to professional sports (which is what this thread is about), you can't go to many pro sports games in BR, now can you?

Hockey's sort of an exception, and so is the city of Atlanta - possibly the most awful big city sports town (representing all major sports) in America. I'd probably have to give anyone living there from elsewhere a pass on my "rule." If you're from there, though, you're unfortunately stuck having to get behind that awfulness.

None, which is why I have no favorite NFL team only players. I do not follow MLB at all, and the NBA team that I watch is because I went to a game of theirs when I like 6, and thus they've had me since.

Then, this whole discussion pretty much doesn't apply to you. Except, I still think claiming to "hate" the Saints or Hornets, given your situation, is a bit goofy at best.

I think it would apply to me, as your arguement is that if I am from here I must be their fan.
I've only seen my favorite NBA live twice. That's because geographics don't allow me to see more. Does the fact I saw them when I was six, at my first NBA game, give me enough of a connection to warrant this?

Hating NOLA is "goofy" at best.
But I got to see that shite first hand when I worked in the state government when I was fresh out of college...

I was giving the ATL the benefit of the doubt, in that there are other big city sports towns that I don't have quite as much knowledge of. However, I strongly suspect that to be the case.

If you claim allegiance to a different team, then yes. Since you don't care about the NFL, for example, then no.

I think it does. Plus, for the Hornets, I don't see much of a problem for people who were fans of teams prior to the Hornets' coming to NOLA.
Now, if they stay for another decade, then there is little excuse.

Alright, NFL-wise then I guess the Fandom doesn't apply.
While you may not have a problem, if you read the Hornet board they have a huge problem. Even if they stay another decade then why should their time here effect my choice? It will be another decade that I have worn the same colors. Wouldn't it look worse for me to switch say after 20 years? An if they stay another decade. Wouldn't my kids follow my example and not like them?
Can I support them? Yeah, I have no ill will towards the Hornets. As long as they don't play my team I don't care if they win/lose.
