Step Curry is a flash in the pan and no one will care about him in 10 years

You could make an argument for Shaq but he was never "The guy" popularity wise. And this is a Lakers fan saying this.

Duncan isn't even in this conversation.

When has Shaq not been popular? Dude's been in movies, made CD's, commercials and all other types of media since leaving LSU and he was a phenom during his time there

Read again. No one said he wasn't popular because he obviously was

What else do you mean by "The Guy"? I can't think of anyone more popular and well liked during Shaq's prime years?

I mean exactly what I say. I said you could make an argument for it but IMO he wasn't clearly the #1 guy

It's probably someone still in school right now. Curry, AD and Durant are all great but I don't see them as guys who move the needle like a Lebron, Kobe, Shaq, MJ. People who don't even follow sports know who Kobe and Lebron because they're Pop culture phenomenons. I don't see any of the young players in the NBA ever reaching that level of fame.

I agree and I also agree that is far more impressive than dunking and should hold more weight, but of the past greatest shooters( Reggie or Ray) none have been the face of the league. While they may have been popular they were nowhere near the most popular.

Curry's game is completely different than miller or Ray. Those guys moved around without the ball and were catch and shoot guys for the most part. Steph curry creates his own shot with the step backs and other sick moves, that's the stuff that drops people's jaws. He is his teams primary ball handler and his handles and passing is so much better than miller or Allen.

You are right about Duncan but wrong about shaq. Shaq's popularity peak was probably higher than kobe's. Even when he was in Orlando and Jordan was still in the league shaq was probably the second in line terms of popularity. Once Jordan retired and shaq went to the lakers he was the man. Then at some point he faded and Kobe and lebron took over.

Duncan, as great as he is, was never in the conversation for being "the face of the league".

This is very true. The guy is amazing no doubt.
