As a USM alum, I have never considered LA Tech a rival. I can't remember a game against LA Tech that I really gave a shite about.
Houston, Louisville, ECU... yeah, I wanted those wins. They felt like rivals. TCU was up there for a while, too.
LA Tech, Memphis, and Tulane... naaah. I know our administration pushed those "rivalries" but that was done for their own convenience.

You mustn’t watch baseball because there have been some series that have gotten chippy AF in the last decade

From what I've heard is that Liddy's parents weren't happy.
Go look at Hank's comments during his fall practice.
Also how he handled Jack wasn't cool at all. Sure Jack wasn't the best but to bench him then bring him back in the same game without an injury. Then bench him again after on series.
Jack played scared when he went back in the game.
Lane wouldn't treat a pitcher the same way which is an honorable fault at times.

Of course you wanted them to be rivals because you thought that validated you. Notice 3 of those 4 are in power conferences now.
