What y'all think? I submit the 1983 Washington Redskins.
My case:
-14-2, defending SB champs
-Set NFL scoring record with 541 points
-+209 point differential, led the league
-Set NFL turnover margin record(which remains) at +43 and were the first team since the merger to record more than 60 takeaways(61)
-Joe Theismann(NFL MVP), John Riggins(set NFL single-season rushing TD record with 24), the Hogs, the Smurfs/Fun Bunch, Joe Washington, Darrell Green, Dexter Manley, Bombs Away Squad, and Mark Moseley
-34-21 average game margin
-Obliterated the Los Angeles Rams 51-7 and successfully withstood a furious San Francisco comeback in the playoffs to advance back to the Super Bowl
-Exceeded 30 points scored 12x
-Averaged 384 YPG

2011 Saints

ETA: I guess I'll throw some stats in to support the case.

-The offense rewrote the NFL record book at the time (breaking 40+ offensive team/individual records)
-13-3 (rode an 8 game winning streak into the playoffs, outscoring opponents 36-19)
-Had 6 games where they scored over 40 points.
-Average scoring margin on the season was 34-21
-Put up 62 by accident against the Colts and Curtis Painter on Sunday Night
-13 games of 400+ yards of offense; 6 games of 500+

They were a few Greg Williams ill-timed blitz calls away from playing the Giants in the Superdome for the NFC Championship game.

The offense was absolutely humming, and seemingly the only thing that kept this team from taking it all was a god damn Alex Smith bootleg. Outside of that, I firmly believe nobody else was going to slow them.

Doesn't help their Super Bowl winning case when they have both a blocked punt and INT converted for TDs, commit 3 TOs, and can't run the ball.

Outside of the 2007 Patriots, I always thought the 1990 Bills team was the best I had seen to not win the Super Bowl. I thought it would be an easy win for them, especially since they were facing a Jeff Hostetler led Giants team.

1976 Steelers.

Gave up 28 points in the last 9 games. The Rooneys said that was the best Steeler team of the 1970s.

I maintain that a Bills-49ers Super Bowl XXV would've been just the most incredible matchup: the K-Gun vs. Montana/Craig/Rice, 3-peat implications, the whole 9.

they had a punt blocked punt that was returned for a TD and then just before the half the Raiders intercepted a pass and ran it back for a score.

oh... and Marcus Allen ran for almost 200 yards that day.

I remember the 2011 Green Bay Packers being pretty good.
