On that entire list, Terry Francona is the only person that has the Rangers missing the playoffs. I thought he was better than that.

Given that they now have no closer (Feliz--who wasn't that good last year--now in the starting rotation, and a big question mark with Nathan's arm problems) I can see his point. Though I have the Rangers taking one of the two wild-cards (the AL East will beat up each other so much that I can't see three teams coming out of there).

But Ogando could fill the role (though it would leave holes elsewhere--who would be the set-up pitcher?)

Lewis, Holland, Darvish, Harrison, Feliz w/ Ogando in the bullpen as the first one to take a rotation spot if someone gets hurt.

Joe Nathan was brought in to close and Uehara & Adams will remain the set-up guys.

He has looked pretty good in spring training. Robbie Ross has been amazing and really earned his spot on the roster. If you are a fan of the Rangers, I don't think pitching should be much of a concern at this point in the season.

If Darvish doesn't adapt well to the majors (I don't see why he wouldn't) and Holland doesn't come back to his late season form, I might start to worry.

I think Holland will be fine. Only if his new deal gets to his head would I worry.

Darvish is the $100 million question (literally). Is he really MLB material or an overpaid AA or AAA pitcher?

That's a big debate on this board. Ask Scuba and Dean.

After seeing his stuff in spring training, I wouldn't be surprised if he won 17 games this season. Remember, at the 4th spot in the rotation he should have plenty of run support.

I'm a big fan of the Rangers, but I have also been very critical of them at times. After the last two years, however, it's getting harder to question their judgement.

Ogando may need to be our closer with Nathan's health history and Feliz (who wasn't that good as a closer last year) unable to do it again.

He should have that at any spot with the Rangers offense.

I'd like to think the Rangers have finally become something other than a team that avoided being a contraction candidate only because DFW is such a big media market. But there are so many teams that were nothing, came out of nowhere to challenge for the title and failed, then went right back to irrelevancy.

Its spring training though, lets see if he can do that during the regular season.

Very true, and a legitimate concern. But the management really seems to be committed to the product on field. Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels are, IMO, the best in baseball right now.

Mike Adams had a 2.10 ERA with Texas and 1.47 on the year, a WHIP of .787 over 2011, K/9 of 9, ERA+ of 266, and more, yet he did not impress you?

You are a fricking moron.

I think Cleveland has a decent pitching staff from top to bottom - good, not great. But their offense really could use some help. They are decent at producing runs but lack some power and have absolutely no speed. Also strike out way too much.
