ESPN writers/editors - do any of them know how to write?

I constantly see headlines, taglines and sentences like this on the ESPN site:
WTF? Did anyone read it before or after it was published to the site?

Mike Reiss is probably their best writing talent.
I busted out laughing when he ripped his editor a new one during a live fan chat for his shitty headlines during the Deflategate fiasco.

Sports journalists are below-average in intelligence and trending lower in terms of quality.

Most game recaps, or things like this are generated by an algorithm that writes based off of box scores.

This. Even at its peak, sports journalism wasn't very good.

No excuses bro. Maybe we should have writing sweat shops in China.

None of them know how to write sports, but they'll blast trump on twitter any chance they get.

What is so crazy about that headline that you snipped and posted?

I was wondering the same thing.

Only thing I can think of is the bolded part kinda runs right into the second sentence and the second sentence might make it sound like this game was played right after the super bowl comeback.
I didn't think it was bad though.

I'm not sure he can read.

I know how to write and I don't blast Trump on Twitter. What does that make me?

I enrolled at LSU intending to be a sportswriter and I realized it would be a total waste of time and brain power within my first semester.

Kept the scoreboard uneven? What kind of ridiculous phrasing is that? I assume that’s the noteworthy part.

As long as they provide a "clever" headline, their bosses are happy. Like "Patriot Games". Because that's never been used before.

Understand.
Just not the best example.

Keep in mind, a large chunk of them are Patriot fans that work there. So they were probably too giddy to worry about grammar and verbiage. They were just ready to shite post ASAP.
