Butler almost becoming a Cinderella champion and then doing the EXACT SAME THING a year later is going to be an amazing story to tell in the future.

Yea I can understand that. FWIW there is a documentary coming out sometime about this. Here's a trailer for it. I just think it would be even better if 30 for 30 picked it up

yea, I saw that. Looks interesting

I mean what is there to tell? They get 20-30 million or more over the course of a few years and they blow it on cars, houses, pussy, and an entourage.

they don't all blow it on this shite. most of the mega fortunes are lost in bad investments

2004 Utah has something to say about that, you know, since they were the first non-BCS team to win a BCS bowl

in all fairness, they did beat the frick out of that pitt team (as they should have)

if anybody wants to know the main reason why i loathe BSU, its' this exact discussion

but in all fairness, Utah was the first non-BCS conference team who beat a BCS conference team. That's the definition of BCS buster. It doesn't state that the BCS team has to be all time great school.

I really don't think I'm being that biased here when I say that a story about the 1986 LSU basketball team would be great.

That story is almost surreal:
*the team was being investigated and Dale was on the cover of SI
*they began the season something like 14-0
*people quit the team and/or got suspended
*freshman Ricky Blanton basically started at every position
*became the first 11 seed to reach the Final Four
*became the first team to beat the top three seeds to get there
*beat Kentucky in the Elite 8 after after losing three times (I think) to them already

100% agree

and they did it under the OLD "top 4" BCS system, which is remarkable

fwiw, UL was probably the best non-BCS team that year, then Utah, then BSU (whom UL beat in the Liberty bowl)

I hear you, but Utah was flat-out better than Pitt. BSU wasn't in the same area code as that Oklahoma team.

The only BCS upset I would put on that level, probably, was when Utah skull-fricked Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

UL was ridiculous that year. Only loss to one of the last good Miami teams in a hell of a game, scored like 40 or so a game if not more. They hit 50, 60 and 70 a lot. An old family friend was the kicker on that team and he set all kinds of records because they scored so damn much.

AT Miami, after Lefors got hurt and true freshman Brohm had to come in. it was a meltdown b/c they were up like 21-0 at half or something

BCS buster has absolutely nothing to do with the team they play. "Busting the BCS" simply means that a non BCS conference team makes it to the BCS. Period. Doesn't matter about Pitt being bad or Oklahoma being good. Hawaii got absolutely skull fricked by Georgia in 2008 (2007 season) but they were still a BCS buster because they were in a non BCS conference and made it to the BCS.

21-7 or 24-7 or something I think at half.

Oh and that Miami team had Frank Gore, Roscoe Parrish, Devin Hester, Greg Olson, etc.
