Would be cool to see films about

2006 Boise St football (Original BCS Buster)
1969 Mets
Steroids in MLB
9/11 and the sports world
1995 Blackburn Rovers of EPL

Absolutely hate ESPN but these documentaries are fantastic.

"Pony Excess" was one of the most gripping documentaries I've ever seen.

Films I think are noteworthy are Pete Rose gambling

It says that's just going to be a short film. I heard a 40-minute interview with Pete Rose on XM a few months back that was fricking phenomenal. Wish they would post it online somewhere.

No.. it says that is the first short film being released, and right above that it says that the documentaries will be accompanied by short films on grantland.. meaning Pete Rose will be the first documentary as well.

Oh okay sweet. Thanks for clarifying. Rose should be a really solid one.

They were the first non-BCS conference team in a BCS game where they beat a BCS conference team. Doesn't matter what you'd call it because you'd be wrong.

They need to do one of the 49ers-Cowboys rivalry of the early to mid 90s

that rivalry was sick. so much star power.

I'd like to see one on the U concerning the scandal with that booster.

I know I'm a homer but does anyone else think a story about how the USL basketball team got the death penalty would make a great 30 for 30?

What if I told you, that all you had to do to win a national title was outbid a SEC West rival for the best player junior college player in America?

they aren't going to do the same type of story twice, especially since it's not as "sexy" as pay for play.

I'm pretty sure they can't do anything directly NFL related because the NFL and NFL Films won't let them.

I think that NFL Films does some amazing work, but hate how the NFL lets them dictate what will be released. I don't want to watch a game replay made up of NFL Films highlights and people narrating where they show highlights out of sequence and over and over again. I want to watch the actual broadcast, of which the NFL network does very little of.

me too. especially because of this:

quote:

By the time of the disaster's 10th anniversary in 1999, at least three people who survived the Hillsborough disaster were known to have committed suicide due to emotional problems brought on by the disaster. Another survivor had been in a psychiatric unit for eight years by this stage. Numerous cases of alcoholism and drug abuse were also blamed on the tragedy, and the disaster also contributed to the collapse of a number of marriages involving people who had witnessed it.

I wouldn't call it the same story as SMU. there was debate over the penalty. I've heard the state wasn't giving the school money for the player's scholarships because they were black so the school raised money in the community for their scholarships. They claim none of the money went directly to the players. In fact, they said the players didn't even know about it. So it has that controversy and they can also talk about how we were the first school in the deep south to integrate and the first to have black basketball players. Trust me, it's not the same story as SMU.

I know, I mean the death penalty. People will see that it's about the death penalty and say "already saw the SMU one"

I'm interested in seeing something about USL, I just don't think they'd do it because of that

Yea I can understand that. FWIW there is a documentary coming out sometime about this. Here's a trailer for it. I just think it would be even better if 30 for 30 picked it up
