Major props to new @espn president Jimmy Pitaro. ESPN has settled Doug Adler’s lawsuit after he was fired for using phrase “guerrilla effect” in a Venus Williams match and they have rehired him to cover tennis matches. As close to a public apology as I have ever seen.

Tldr

Dude says "guerrilla" during Venus Williams match. Gets fired. He sues ESPN.

A lot of people knew. There was a huge thread about it either here or on the OT. Tried searching it but couldn't find it.

This was fricking absurd.

"Guerilla Tennis" was even the center of a Nike campaign with Andre Agassi if I remember correctly.

Hope he got paid.

Well, considering they completely fricked the guy over, fired him and accused him of being a racist for saying something that no INTELLIGENT person would ever consider to be racist, I'd say it's a very warranted "We're sorry" from ESPN.

Score one for common sense over faux outrage

Is this a new front office that hired him back because I feel like I'd have to tell them to go frick themselves otherwise?

That was actually my point that I missed. I'll take the downvotes.

But stand by no one knew who these dude was before he got canned because no one gives a shite about tennis anymore in America and it's ESPN tennis to boot.
