ESPN+ apparently got the memo

Up until recently, on commercial breaks (or halftime breaks), + broadcasts would play the "LIVE SPORTS...AND THE COMPLETE 30 FOR 30 LIBRARY..." on repeat. As you can imagine, that gets to be irritating as frick.
I've notice in the last week or so, they are playing music (pretty soft synth music) instead.
It's been quite a welcome change.

I’m guessing we’ve all woken up from a beer nap after hearing this in our dreams on repeat for the 40 minutes since the game ended 
Then once you notice it and wake up. finding the remote is impossible so you end up hearing it another 30 times before you can turn the channel

I cancelled my ESPN+ subscription for this EXACT reason and I let them know about it on the phone in an explicative-laced tirade.
It's still frick ESPN all day...but I'm glad they got the memo...

I don't even understand why they decided to run those on repeat. Everyone watching those commericals was already subscribing and would know they get all the 30 for 30s b/c of how prominently they are featured in the app.
I'm sure it started b/c they did research that says people might tune out if nothing plays during the breaks but running the same ad on repeat was by far the worst way to go at it. If they want to use commercials but can't sell the airtime they have decades of Sportscenter and ESPN centric commercials they could run. If there is an issue w/having to pay people who were in those commercials then they could just go to a wide shot of the field or court for whatever game is airing until they get back.

Why is ESPN+ necessary at all? I don't know anyone who has a subscription.

They probably have a pretty sizable base from all the soccer and ufc content it has and it’s a lower price point than a normal streaming service so I don’t think most let 5 dollars stop them from whatever random game comes on ESPN plus they want to watch
It’s also tied to a ton of bundles as an add on so most people with Hulu/Disney plus also have ESPN plus
They have completely over convoluted their streaming offerings and made it completely confusing on how to watch the games you want to with their eggs in all these different baskets but I think you’d be surprised how many people you know have a subscription to it even if they hardly use it
