To me, that's the standard for a 30 for 30- if, 25 years after the fact, people still have the level of interest to randomly spark a discussion about an event.

To me, it was the biggest fight of the last 30 years; it's certainly one of the most controversial.

Saints in 05 and their rise from the ashes in 06. Actually, just Saints 06. How Payton and co. lived in a devastated city and carried on a professional program. Would be a good one.

Foreman winning the heavyweight title in his forties.

The Soccer war between El Salvador and Honduras.

the collapse of the SWC.

Prefontaine.

I'd like to see one on the "Fight of the Millennium"...De La Hoya vs Trinidad.

There was a huge buildup to the fight and it set the PPV record for a non-heavyweight fight...1.4 million buys.

De La Hoya humiliated Trinidad for 9 full rounds and went ahead and gave away the last 3 because he knew he was so far ahead and wanted to avoid being KO'd...yet somehow lost on the scorecards. It has long been rumored that there was something fishy going on between Don King (Trinidad's promoter) and the judges prior to the fight.

The story of De La Hoya giving the last 3 rounds away and having it bite him in the a$$ is a good story in itself...then you factor in how he owned Trinidad that night in all aspects of boxing...yet lost.

As someone who ran cross country in high school, I would definitely have to agree with you.

Morgan Spurlock's film about the agents should be pretty cool.

Unfortunately, some of the most interesting topics are too close to existing 30 for 30s so we won't see them made. The decline of the SWC would be very interesting, but it was already discussed in the SMU and Marcus Dupree docs. I would be interested to see something about hard drug use in the NBA in the 80s, especially after Simmons made tons of references to it the Book of Basketball, but there was already Without Bias. And there have been lots of mediocre films made about soccer rivalries, so ESPN won't fund a documentary on a topic that has already been covered (which is why we haven't seen anything on UNLV basketball).

Some of y'all have some good ideas, but horrible grasps on what 30 for means. It's about compelling sports stories of the last 30 years. Although I'd love to see a documentary on Jesse Owens, Babe Ruth, etc., what makes these docs so great are the one on one interviews with people directly connected to the stories.

Yeah it was. I was about to also say they could do one on Mike Tyson, then I remembered there was already one a few years ago that was incredible. If you haven't seen Tyson you should definitely check it out. Gives a lot of insight as to how he became who he is today.

Something tells me that the only way this gets made is if WBRZ or WAFB makes it.

You notice that they don't do a lot on the NFL. I'm sure the league and NFL Films don't let that happen. They're all peripheral like the USFL or Marcus DuPree.

A couple I would like to see:

1. The 2003 college football season--when the BCS basically imploded (for the first time) and we got the split title

2. Style over substance--the Danica Patrick hype machine and how she became the most publicized race car driver even though she still hasn't won a race in the Western Hemisphere.

I am completely serious about both topics.

Didn't they already have the one about coming back from three down to the Yanks? I figured they would've covered the World Series run on that film. I didn't watch it for what it's worth.

Rather than doing one on our SB run, I think they'd be more inclined to do one on the struggle during the 2005 Katrina season, having to play our home games in NY, San Antonio, and BR. And then it could culminate with the MNF return to the dome.
