Inaugural tournament - invite all original members of the current Big East.
Georgetown
Seton Hall
Providence
St. John's
Villanova
Then throw in Syracuse, Boston College, and Connecticut; the final three original members.
You can do it with those eight, and then add four to get to 12 so it can be a four-day event.
Pittsburgh
Marquette
Louisville
Cincinnati
You also have West Virginia, DePaul, and Notre Dame who are traditional basketball schools who you could rotate in. It would be a fantastic event.
ETA: And shite, get some sportswriters to seed the thing each year. Give it a real tournament feel. If you lose in the first round, you don't get to come back the next year. So the 8 teams that don't get one of the four byes have to win (losers would be replaced by Notre Dame, West Virginia, DePaul, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, etc.). Sort of like relegation in soccer.

Watched the first 10-15 minutes and was loving it.
Can't wait to see the rest. DVR'd it. And I hope I can find it on the internet.

I don't think it'll be long until the current Big East expands, but to do so they'll probably have to partially destroy another historic basketball conference - the Atlantic 10.
Atlantic Division
Georgetown
Villanova
Providence
St. John's
Seton Hall
VCU
Saint Joseph's
Massachusetts
Midwest Division
Marquette
DePaul
Xavier
Butler
Creighton
Saint Louis
Dayton
Wichita State
It would be a fantastic league. And the tournament in the Garden would be just as amazing as it used to be. Well, almost.
The A-10 would have just eight teams remaining. They'd have to raid the Colonial and Missouri Valley like they have before.

I really liked the pick up of Creighton even though it doesn't make a ton of sense geographically.
I think it is going to be interesting to see what the American does with Louisville leaving. You still have good basketball schools in UCONN, Memphis, and Cincy. Larry Brown looks to building a good program at SMU. Houston should be good considering the talent there.
I like the idea of some damn good basketball only conference being formed.
NCAA basketball needs some new life pumped into it.

If the Big East stole some A-10 schools like I mentioned, that 16-team conference would get 9 teams in the tournament most years.
And since they're all basketball-only in division I (at least for now), the league should be able to thrive for a while.
I wonder if this is in the works.

ACC is going to be even better with the addition of Louisville.
They (ACC) should get a bigger stage for the tournament. I know they're going to DC in 2016, which is good, and in discussions for Brooklyn in 2017, which is even better.

There's too many teams in the ACC that don't really give a frick about basketball. ACC games aren't exciting.

As long as they don't mess with the Kentucky Louisville game I wish them the best of luck as an awesome basketball conference.
I just feel bad for poor Memphis. They were finally going to be in a good conference (Big East) and everything just blew up.
