If it’s a good coach with a track record and his current team isn’t giving him what he wants/needs, there’s no career suicide to speak of if he can find a buyer. A genuinely disgruntled coach who feels he’s getting cheated after learning what else is out there isn’t going to just shut up and coach. The inevitable outcome will lean “mutually agree to part ways.”

He can’t find / advance discussions with a buyer to the point an offer can even be made if he can’t talk, which is why it’s a no-brainer restriction with punitive punishment (losing picks) for even trying

The reason it could be viewed as an “extreme hypothetical” is ultimately driven by the very fact that you can’t talk

Again. Like I said.

If they could talk, and they should be allowed to, no coach is going to do what you said.

There’s absolutely zero reason why requesting permission should be a thing lol
