re: Dwight Howard trade is dead

Exactly. That entire deal seems so complicated and I don't understand what direction Orlando would be trying to go in. If they wanted to just stay in 2nd round hell with no cap space then they take Bynum for Howard straight up which is dumb from their pov. The Brooklyn deal does nothing for them. They get a bunch of late 1st round picks, a shitty brook Lopez with a max contract and the only bad contract they unload is Richardson which isn't even their worst.
They have the most valuable asset at the table in that potential trade yet get by far the worst return.

If Bynum ever hits free agency, he will be in Dallas.

The Lakers are so far over the cap, though, that they can't just take on Turkgolu's contract without sending back out close to the same amount of money. Houston can, though. So really, if Houston is willing to take on Howard and, say, Richardson in exchange for KMArt's expiring + the young pieces, it would be a matter of whether Houston would prefer Howard possibly being a one year rental, or Bynum who has claimed that he is interested in playing there. The Lakers really don't have anything to sweeten the pot alongside Bynum.

Wasn't it Houston last offseason that really coveted Pau Gasol? If Orlando isn't getting Bynum, why not try to give Houston Gasol instead of Bynum?

Because gasol isn't worth the picks/young players to give to Orlando to send Howard to LA. Bynum is and would be in Houston long term.

I think Houston would make the smart move and go for Bynum instead. Honestly they aren't going to be a contender whether its D12 or Bynum but at least they know for sure he won't pass up the money and leave.
Plus, Hou has tons of cap space even if they take on a bad contract so they can still get pieces around Bynum to build a contender in the future

Ric Bucher said there is now only a 60% chance this deal happens

The Cavaliers are having second thoughts about potential three-team deal with the Magic and Nets, according to source. They may back out.

What would they be giving up?

Charlotte might take Cleveland's place.

The awful contract of Luke Walton, and I think they receive a first rounder as well. I don't understand why they would be the team that is backing out. All they are is just a facilitator in this

According to Ric Bucher, the Cavs realize how badly the Nets/Magic want to get this done. As a result, they want more in return (even more cap space) for facilitating this deal.

So what would a potential Nets depth chart look like? Would the remainder be filled by no-names?
PG: Deron Williams / Chris Duhon
SG: Joe Johnson / Jason Richardson
SF: Gerald Wallace
PF: Earl Clark / Mirza Teletovic

I thought it was Jason Richardson not Quentin going over to Brooklyn. Also, they have Reggie Evans to be their bully down low
Do they not realize they can go to about 5 other teams that will do the same thing Cleveland is doing in this deal?

Apparently Charlotte is doing the same and also requesting more cap space for facilitating this deal.

That's honestly not that bad of a squad to have J-Rich as your 6th man and have guys like Duhon and Reggie Evans off your bench.
Which then boils down to which of those teams will crack first and just accept it, which will happen soon

Sheeeeiiitttt. Aside from depth/chemistry, that's a pretty damn good team.
Why the hell is the rest of the league jumping through hoops to make this happen?

Not that bad?
That's the 2nd best team in the East and probably 3rd to 5th best record in the league right there.
They will be very good.

That was more in response to his comments on the team.
It will be interesting to see who finishes with the best record between the Heat and Nets because it will be close
