@Mr Perfect, as a fellow elite basketball mind, I would like your opinion on this as you and I had a discussion about this just the other day.

Imo this will be LA’s bread and butter come playoff time*

*Could sub Collison in for KCP or Green depending on circumstances imo

Solid article on the best move the Lakers can make imo. LINK

quote:

There’s also a domino effect that comes with moving Davis to the 5. Playing small ball transforms their third-best scorer—Kyle Kuzma—from a luxury item into an invaluable piece. Kuzma has suffered the most in the Lakers’ new arrangement. There is no spot in the lineup for the third-year combo forward with LeBron at the 3, Davis at the 4, and either McGee or Howard at the 5. He has gone from starter to sixth man and is playing eight fewer minutes per game than last season.

Kuzma has been great in the rare times where he has, in fact, played with LeBron and Davis. The Lakers have an eye-popping net rating of plus-21 in 183 minutes with all three on the floor this season.

His reputation is a little skewed. Kuzma is a bigger celebrity than many more accomplished players because of where he plays, but he’s also better than he’s given credit for now that the backlash has swung things the other way. There aren’t many players with his size (6-foot-8 and 220 pounds) who possess his combination of athleticism, shooting, and ball skills.

Kuzma is a natural scorer. He doesn’t need to hold the ball for long. He moves well without it and he can put up points in a hurry. He’s third on the Lakers in points per touch (0.362) behind only Davis and Troy Daniels, a 3-point shooting specialist. He showed all the different ways he can score—pick-and-roll, posting up, spotting up, cutting to the rim, offensive rebounding, and getting to the line—when he dropped 36 points a win against the Thunder in January

quote:

The Lakers have a five-man lineup that fits almost perfectly together in LeBron, Davis, Kuzma, and two three-and-D wings in Danny Green and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. They can run everything through LeBron and Davis, use Kuzma to fill in the blanks, and space the floor with Green and KCP. There aren’t many holes on either end of the floor. LeBron and Kuzma are their two worst defenders, and they are still huge forwards who can switch on screens and stay in front of smaller guards. That lineup has been dominant in the rare times when Vogel has gone to it, with a net rating of plus-25.6 in 42 minutes.

What's up with the Clippers on the road? 14-11 now after getting absolutely demolished by Minnesota.

24 turnovers so far. The carelessness with the ball is a huge issue.

The Warriors have promising pieces on this team and will be just fine when Steph and Klay are healthy. The injury bug is a bitch and completely killed any chance the Warriors has this year. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with them next year

I have a question for Lakers fan.

If your reward for finishing #1 was a fully healthy Pelicans team that had to play nearly .700 ball after starting 6-23, trolling aside, would that piss you off?

I’m not sure I speak for all LakersBoyz on this board, but I do not know why that would piss any of us off. Would be a cool first round matchup with a great storyline imo

I don’t think Lakers fans have any animosity for the Pels like Pels fans have for the Lakers. I’ve greatly enjoyed watching my favorite non Laker Ingram bloom

No, the storylines would be great for that matchup. Former Lakers vs their old team. Davis vs NoLa. It would be great atmosphere.

Portland still being an 8 seed would piss me off if I'm being honest.

Oh it would be fun as hell. I maybe didn’t ask in the right way. I’m not talking animosity. I think you destroy SAS or MEM. I think you get both NOP/POR, but to pull a young Pelicans team with a bunch of talent/high ceiling guys rounding into form (again this is assuming we are playing well enough to catch everyone, so pretty damn well cause we have ourselves a hike after 6-23)? That’s not much of a reward considering the relative unknown of how we’d perform on that stage. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Pelicans could take it to a game 7 loss at full health as the ceiling, which isn’t ideal in the first round for a team full of older vets and injury prone stars. Granted, our inexperience could also spiral into a sweep.

Dame and CJ aren’t enough to push the Lakers much though they’d get a couple games likely.

I was just curious how you felt about a matchup with a talented and young Pels team.
