In recent years I've slowly lost interest in the NFL. It's just become boring over the years. I barely watched the Super Bowl last year. I can't pinpoint why I've lost interest in the NFL, but I have. I'll follow the Falcons, but that's it. My interest in college football has never been higher.
THIS. I went to a Saints/Cowboys game in the early/mid 90s when the Cowboys were one of the elite Super Bowl contenders. It was a Monday Night game a couple of weeks before Christmas and was one of the most lifeless, corporate, sterile and boring atmospheres I've ever witnessed for a game. The Alabama/Utah Sugar Bowl I attended with little on the line had a much better atmosphere than that Monday night game.

funny. I was at that game and it was the poorest attended Sugar Bowl I've ever been to. Plenty of empty seats in the Terrace.
Terrible atmosphere. Almost felt like I was at the GMAC Bowl in the late 90's.

Not to mention that game was just better too.
Alabama shouldn't have even bothered showing up for that Sugar Bowl vs. Utah. What a waste of money. Its sad when Marshall-East Carolina can give the fans a better game than a BCS bowl can.

IMO the quality of the NFL is it's own worst enemy. Defenses are so good that it makes offense bland and boring. You don't get to see two teams with completely different styles play. You don't get to see one player just completely dominate the game. You don't get to see dual threat quarterbacks wreak havoc. Just not as fun IMO.

The NFL is just boring to me. Nobody takes many chances like going for it on 4th in college. Not as many big plays (or maybe they just aren't as exciting as the ones in college).
