This is probably true. Other than actual games I hardly even watch ESPN anymore, so I have very little problem with them. I am probably the only person on this board not sick of the Favre story because I haven't heard anything.

They have had fillers like this since the beginning of the network. What sports options are on at 2 pm on a random tuesday or 3am on Saturday? I know they will show this stuff during prime time sometimes but it's usually only when it's baseball season and they don't have any other sports or they are showing a playoff game or something on one of the other ESPN networks.

I hate that the quality of their reporting has gone way down hill and they spend more time on human interest nonsense. I hate that the quality of their productions have gone way downhill in recent years, including botching scores on the tickers, and other things that any mass comm major would not let slide. I hate that their on-air personalities are either caricatures or just plain dull.

Do you want more reasons? I've got more reasons.

besisdes they aren't targeting coloreds with their programing. They need to targe those with money

or cable

or tv's

I will say this, MLB Tonight >>>>>> Baseball Tonight. ESPN lost a lot of airtime on my TV because of this.

This in no way means I hate ESPN, though.

i agree, but a network that only does one thing should do that one thing better. Although I'm not sure NFL network does and NBA.tv is a joke

There are actual sports, not reruns of a bunch of losers sitting around that they can show, WHICH IS WHAT THEY DID IN THE OLD DAYS.

True, they don't have all the contracts for other sports, but they HAVE shown some of these other sports recently, so then can do it again.

But the filler thing is one of my lesser complaints. Believe me, I don't want them fricking shite up, so I pay for Setanta.

i'm guessing it would cost ESPN more to broadcast random african soccer games at 3am then it's worth.

I watch it for games and Around the Horn, maybe some PTI every now and then. But as for Sportscenter, it has gone down the same road MTV has. Once a show known for HIGHLIGHTS, it is now full of bullshite opinions of various people's opinions brought to you by an assortment of sponsors.

Hey Backwoods?

Did you really say "coloreds". The only thing you left out was the u (coloureds). Wow!!

My only complaint about ESPN is they beat the shite out of topics until you're forced to change the channel.

Exactly. They have 24 hour programming with 45 minutes worth of material. Every show in the afternoon is a different group of people debating the same subject from the previous show.

ESPN used to give us insight and solid coverage 24/7/365. Now, it's basically a massive marketing tool, ala MTV (as someone else noted). This really saddens me.

They target their reporting to a mentality of twelve year olds. Play of the dau is always a dunk (in season). The screaming the booyahs etc. How abput real reporting and I don't mean Shelly Smith sucking off everythong Los Angles or having a reporter on Michael Vick's home. I like Peter Gammons and Kruk. College Football Lie is good but Poker is not a sport.
