Unless I'm completely misreading the situation, Beckett has been lockerroom cancer for a while.

Remember when literally every ESPN MLB expert picked the Red Sox to win the World Series last year?

Its not the first time a team failed to live up to their potential.

If there was any doubt remaining that the Dodgers' new ownership group would drastically alter the franchise, it has now been officially eliminated. The Dodgers and Red Sox have completed a massive nine-player blockbuster trade that will send Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto to Los Angeles for James Loney and four prospects, reports Michael Silverman of The Boston Herald. Dan Roche of WBZ appears to have first reported completion of the trade (on Twitter).

Maybe not a great trade, but what a hell of a trade!!!

LOVE what the Sox did here. I hope they go back to building an organization now instead of trying to be yankees lite.

Well they sort of just "undid" that.

I like it too. Beckett needed to go. If they had to sacrifice Crawford and Gonzalez in the deal, so be it. That's a huge salary dump.

When they made their runs it was based on signing of FA's not home grown prospects....

Pedro
Ortiz
Damon
Millar
Varitek
Kapler
Manny
Bellhorn
Cabrera
Foulke
Schilling
Timlin
Wakefield

Hell only "homegrown" players they had on team were Trot Nixon, Youk, and Bronson

As a dodger fan I don't like this. I can't believe they are picking up so much in contracts

Uhhhh, Varitek played his entire career in Boston. He was traded from Seattle while in the minors.

Big Papi really wasnt anything special before the sox either.

And Im a braves fan.
