Why does the CEO at Wal Mart make more than some unskilled new hire?
Because the CEO of Wal-Mart is running the company.

Terribly worded sentence but you get the point lol.

A living stipend would be the right move. Anything further threatens to topple our whole system, how do you pay for non-revenue sports if football money is going straight to the players?
THEY ALREADY GET A STIPEND! As a former college athlete, I know.
If you live off campus, you get a check in the dollar amount of the cost of on campus housing/dining.

The NCAA should not be able to keep a kid from making money off his name/likeness considering the NCAA makes a goddamn mint off the kid's name/likeness and the careers of football players, even the really good ones, are never guaranteed. shite, Tebow is perhaps the greatest college player of all time, but his NFL career is over after less than 4 years. I bet he's wishing he made some hay while the sun was shining and signed a bunch of autographs.
Point being: don't be naive. The argument that they get paid by getting a free education is basically putting your head in the sand. The players at major universities are working full time jobs for the universities. Those jobs are to be good at a sport that makes the university money (at least in the case of football). This requires at minimum 40 hours a week, not including standard practices with the team. I'm not saying the college or even the NCAA should pay a stipend, though I think that should be examined, but the NCAA should have no say over whether that quarterback or wideout or whatever can make money off of their own name. It's basically a tacit non-compete clause for participating in college athletics that illustrates the hypocrisy of the NCAA.

This - the amount of free shite they get is ridiculous. They are living the dream.
