to clarify. he went on to say that he meant the whole package
what does he think these 100 elite revievers are doing instead of making millions in the NFL?

but I do think there are a some people who could have developed Andre Johnson like skills if they stayed/played football earlier in their life.
of course
but there aren't a bunch of 6-2, 230 lb guys running sub 4.3s
that takes a shite ton of training (both to get that big and run that fast)

Hell no. If there were, then Andre wouldn't be such a prized commodity.
I challenge anyone to find somebody who weights 230 lbs and has the speed to win a major conference championship in both the 60m and 100m dash (Andre did).
And even if you could find somebody with a similar combination of size and speed, no WAY that person has the hands, route running ability and ball skills that Andre has.

I don't think the street ball thing is that far fetched. There are lots of guys with the talent to play in the NBA that just don't get their shot, whether it's because they were too dumb to get into college or they got arrested at a young age. When I was at LSU circa 98-01 there was a guy Donald who always played Bball at the rec center. Easily good enough to be on LSU's squad, but got in a little bit of trouble in high school and was never looked at.
I remember once when Master P brought Kerry Kittles to the rec center him and Donald were going back and forth on each other one game, just move after move. It was pretty awesome.
But you don't think there's a JJ Barea skilled player somewhere on the streets of New York? Or a Zach Randolph? I'm not saying this team is going to dominate the Heat or Bulls or anything, but they could compete with some teams.

it takes a lot of work to go from amazing in high school to decent in the NBA
again, the vest best streetballer of the modern era was just a guy in the NBA (and he went to college)

6-8+ guys who are somewhat coordinated are scouted in NYC and placed in schools to play ball

Yes, it is. For starters, street ball is almost a different game. They wouldn't be able to pull some of the BS they pull on the playgrounds.
Finally....I don't care how good you are offensively, if you can't play defense you probably won't make it in the NBA. And from my experience, the top defensive strategy in street ball is to foul.

Playing and winning in the NBA or any major sport requires more than talent. That is kinda the point. It requires discipline and perseverance. A team full of street ballers would crumble at the first sign of resistance.

I always thought AO from And1 should have been in the league. He was their most polished player. he had at least one try out with the Sonics but didn't make it
also another And1 guy Ballaholic turned down a try out with the Knicks while he was on tour

And sometimes they don't make the grade, or get arrested and can't play. They they get out and are currently on the courts of New York.
I mean there's what, 30 million people in NYC? You don't think there are 5 that can play at an NBA level? Chuck Hayes is like 6'6 or 6'8 playing center with no real jump shot and he's still carved out a pretty decent career, and I can promise there are dozens of guys with his skill set that never got their shot because they didn't play at Kentucky.
To me the 100 Andre Johnsons are way more far fetched than being able to field a competitive team of street ballers.
