It is?

It's actually remained the same and declined slightly.

Not counting this year because it's an aberration.

He’s America’s sports broadcaster. A legend as good as any. He will be a broadcaster I tell my kids about. Like the generation before me got Keith Jackson.

Wow,do you not see the bigger point?

Broadcast rights for almost all sports aren't declining...they keep increasing and once almost all broadcast rights for major sports are owned by Facebook,Netflix,Amazon, etc these current numbers will be awarded.

Don't get why you're even arguing the point or your anger.

Sorry if it spoils your narrative but the NFL isn't going anywhere and will continue to thrive.

Bet what?

Do you wanna bet that their revenue will be higher 3 years from now? 5 Years?

There isn't one shred of evidence indicating it won't.

Are the rights to broadcast their games
more expensive or less expensive than they used to be?

GeeI get it,you don't like their politics but has nothing to do with what networks are willing to pay for their product.

CBS SEC ratings down and this wasn't last season's numbers.

[link=("Not just the NFL: Ratings decline hits college football broadcasters, too – Saturday Down South" https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/not-just-nfl-ratings-decline-hits-college-football-broadcasters/amp/)]LINK[/link]

Do you not understand that even with the aome decline in NFL's ratings they still dwarf CFB's ratings?

Not sure why you don't comprehend this.

Please answer the simple question.

Why are networks negotiating to pay more for their product than less?

You do know this correct?

You do know streaming will eventually own the rights to broadcast almost all major and will pay infinitely more than
even these renegotiated and current contracts?

Love to hear your answer for both.

I do not know this

So what’s it mean?

I think NFL #s will decrease greatly

But keep washing them feet!

The professional sports economics has to be reset. The players are entertainers; the audiences have lost some interest even before the pandemic. This bubble needs to burst.

The disconnect between teams and ordinary fans has widened for numerous reasons. Salaries are unfathomable; owners' equity in their franchises are astronomic, and the media markets are saturated. Add to this the media darling stars making tone deaf political statements and divisive symbolism.

The professional sports bubble is bursting. Let's cheer on this reset.

By the way, the same thing needs to happen in other media driven economies.

I just wish the NFL would change its broadcast rights structure. The way they only televise three Sunday games plus SNF and MNF is ancient.

If they still have a desire to grow the game in Europe they need to shorten the games. Outside of cricket all European sporting events take 2 hours max. A NFL game should last more than 2-1/2 but of course that means less commercials and maybe a bit more running clock.

You, limit to 2-1/2 hours you can set up the following.

3 networks
Thursday night - 1 game
11AM slot - 3 east coast games
130PM slot - 3 east or central games
3PM slot - 3 central or mountain games
530PM slot 3 central, mountain or west coast games
8PM slot - SNF
MNF - 2 games

Bye week adjust as needed.

In this scenario, wouldn’t the broadcast companies get to sell more overall commercials? People would get to watch more football and you shorten the games to attract new markets.

I know, a pipe dream but I wish they would try it.

That DirectTV Sunday Ticket exclusive rights is the next thing to go. The only question is, do they just open up Sunday Ticket to all/most Satellite/cable companies? Do they allow streamers to get in on the action? Do they get rid of it entirely and allow the major networks to use their secondary networks (FX, USA) to show games?

Yes,read the fricking OP. Are you REALLY this dense? LINK

It’s been no secret that the NFL is expecting to command record shattering increases. Despite the modest turnout for the Super Bowl and the consistent 10%-12% drop in NFL viewership this past season, pro football telecasts still tower over most programs in primetime. NFL telecasts are consistently among the top-rated telecasts and one of the few reliable vehicles for delivering a mass audience of men in coveted demos

And speaking of streaming Amazon and their NFL deal

quote:

or agreements that would keep the Sunday afternoon games on CBS and Fox, “Monday Night Football” on ESPN/ABC and “Sunday Night Football” on NBC. ESPN/ABC is expected to add Super Bowls when all is said and done.

The deals are not completed and the NFL could change course, but this is where it is trending, according to sources. The NFL is the highest-rated programming in television, which gives the league exceptional leverage, and they are expected to receive substantial increases over their current contracts.

What part of this do you not understand?

Are you just arguing because you desperately wanna be right?

There isn't one shred of evidence to back what up you're saying.

Okay? I get your emotional argument
but lets see some type of hard data to back up what you're saying.

Are ratings down for some sports? Sure. Is that translating to decrease revenue? It really isn't (I'm taking 2020 out of the discussion for obvious reasons)

People are watching in different platforms and different revenue streams are being cultivated.

Idk man. SB ratings have decreased big time the last couple years
Wonder why?

I predict this will not go well down the road for the NFL
You know what they say, go woke, Go broke
