Mutombo and Alonzo Mourning were the Twin Towers at Georgetown.

Damn. So sad.
I’ll always remember that epic shot of him hugging the ball on the floor at the end of the Nuggets 1994 playoff series upset of Seattle. He was so happy.

Did any of you know he was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago? I didn’t know. I thought maybe he was private about it like Norm Macdonald was about his cancer, but apparently he made an announcement a couple of years ago.
That’s terrible. May he rest in peace.

Gutted. I met him a few times. Great guy.

It’s a credit to him that he’s best known for being a legitimately great dude when he’s also legitimately one of the league’s GOAT defensive players. The Nuggets’ upset of the Sonics might still be the GOAT upset in league history.

Nobody dunks in the house of Mutumbo.
One of my all time favorites.
A good man.
RIP.

One of the articles I read today said he originally went to Georgetown on an academic scholarship and only joined the basketball team his second year there. No idea if that’s true but pretty cool if it is.
