they don't care, they are holding out a few of their 8 Front end starters to ramp up for the playoffs. Their core is aging so their great player development will be tested in the years to come - we'll see, but they have at least one more good run left this year with that massive payroll core.

Yes, you're probably right - that's what they have been doing. Tucker apparently isn't working out, no matter they'll outbid everyone for the next big $$ FA next year to replace him. Because they can. Unless.....there's a salary cap after the work stoppage next year? We'll see.

And the slightest of injuries seem to derail him and for longer than they should. He wasn't ready for the playoffs because he was sidelined most of September with a calf injury. Andre Dawson must have been fuming at the thought.
He was supposed to be a good fielder, he was not, he was in fact below average.
I did not see him aging well, and it seems as though it is playing out in real time now. I was fine with not trying to re-sign him and I think the Cubs and his teammates there were as well truth be told.
