It is a coincidence that the Rockets haven't done as well with Josh Smith.

They were struggling before Josh Smith got there.

Josh Smith isn't the reason for their struggles.

I'd have no problem blaming Josh Smith if he really was fricking shite up.

It's Dwight more than anything. He's playing hurt and he looks like arse. His post ups always look like arse, so that's nothing new. But his defense has been bad.

He can't move very well. He looks so much less explosive. If Dwight can't use his athleticism, he sucks.

The defense is designed to funnel guys to Dwight. Since he's hurt he's slow and can't get in good position in time. He can't alter or block shots he usually does. He can't get in good position to rebound.

He's playing really bad right now. He needs to sit and heal instead of trying to play.

And on the rare occassion he gets in postion to alter a shot, nobody is even trying to box out his man -> Rebound & Layup.

God their defense is a mess right now.

Dwight looked as bad as I've ever seen him look last night

He still made some explosive, athletic plays, though. So I'm wondering how healthy he actually is.

On another note, I don't know how you Rockets fans or his own teammates can handle his demeanor. I'd lose my fricking shite watching him commit stupid fouls and grinning about it.

He has a knee issue. He can jump off of two feet with no pain he said. So you can still see him jump up and dunk and catch lobs and grab a rebound, although he's not quite as explosive as normal.

Moving laterally or jumping off of one foot is a problem.

So he's slow on defense, can't box out as well or get in position. So he can't really use his power. Remember... slow-arse Omer Asik drove past him and dunked on him.

He was as bad last night as I've seen him.

And yeah, his demeanor is annoying at times. If they are blowing out a team, then laughing isn't a big deal. But I don't get the laughing during an intense game or cutting up on the bench in the middle of a tight game.

This is just how he keeps from getting technicals. NBA officials hate him. If he looks mad after a call, it's an automatic T. It's ridiculous.

Dwight was always jealous of Stan's handles.

Since this topic was posted..

Pistons have lost 4 in a row after getting beat by 20 by Philly tonight (only scoring 69 points)..

Rockets have won 3 in a row after beating the Mavs tonight without D. Howard (Smith led the team with 18/6/3 blocks off the bench)..

I guess the trend is over..

Dude would be one of the most valuable players if he played like Demarre Carroll. Grind as hard as he could on defense, since he is a freak out there. Then let the offense come to him and just do what is needed.

He just wants to be the star.

Weird, Jennings sucked most of the year (and pretty much his entire career) went on a little hot streak, but now his loss is the reason they suck again.

Yep. And if the reason for the hot streak was because of Brandon Jennings, then it's disingenuous to say the hot streak was because of the subtraction of Josh Smith.

I get the thread from the Pistons POV because Smith was the guy taking all of the shots. But on the Rockets, he's like the 4th option at best behind James, Dwight and D-Mo. It's not like he is the reason we were losing games.

How so?

You could easily argue that dropping Smith allowed the offense to flow much better through Jennings, something they couldn't do with Smith in the lineup.

Jennings was playing really good basketball without Josh Smith...it wasn't some "little hot streak". It was a huge loss for the Pistons.
