All you dudes talking shite about the refs comments, let's look at how the NFL has operated in its history shall we?
In 1987 there was a player strike. The NFL found replacement players that were more than willing to play. Sean Payton famously among one of them. Eventually, the players caved. They crossed the picket line and started playing again. Same with all the CBA disputes during the renewal period recently. Players sat back and got fricked in the arse financially just so they could not get tested for weed. The players have always caved to the NFL and the NFL has always found someone to replace them if need be. Until they come crawling back.
Let go back to 2012. The refs had a strike, and it only took 3 weeks of replacement refs fricking up crucial calls for the league to cave to the refs. History has shown that players cave to the league, and refs have made the league cave to them.
So I dont understand why thats such a laughable take. Players make more, sure. That doesn't mean they're not as replaceable, teams have a minimum salary to spend. They're gonna spend it on somebody. And you can bet there's a dude behind you thats ready to take your place. For the bump in salary they get from bench riding to starter, its a bigger jump than backup refs I'm pretty sure.
