Yet he didn't ask for money so that angle is weak as frick
He didn't have to ask Teo for money, he got what he needed out of him. A good fricking sob story to sell to ND fans and the public to enduce tax free donations to a sham charity.
Almost all athlete foundations are tax havens and way to employ their hanger ons. They usually are not ran professionally and only survive on the donations from the athlete. The smarter ones use the athletes fame to solicit donations from middle class schmucks.
I think the pay off for them was to use sympathy from the Lennay story to get donations for a Leukemia charity with tie ins to other Samoan football players using his family's name etc, etc.
Remember this kid is a preacher's son, so he sees first hand how stupid religious people are and how easy they give up their money to the church, and sees an opportunity.
If you just get 5000 people out of ND's fan base to donate $100 a year to a charity using this bogus story as the hook... that's $500k a year. Little Ronaniah could live pretty well off half a mil couldn't he? We saw how much Livestrong earned right?

Then where's his charity? ND fans were taking collections for Leukemia charities so he would've started his already to get their money.
Again Teo says money wasn't involved, ND said money wasn't involved, and the Feds not being involved tells us money wasn't involved.

I think the homosexual angle is coming into play. Te'o conjured up this story to allude his teammates and the public so that they didn't find out he was in the closet. He needs to just come clean on Oprah and explain to everyone that he and Anderson Cooper share the same thing in common.
The best part of this is that NBC must be beside themselves with Notre Dame and their contract. This actually will really hurt Notre Dame and their reputation. Notre Dame will come out shortly and start blaming the kid for his mormon values while espousing that Catholic kids wouldn't do this type of thing. I predict a religious war between the Mormons and Catholics to occur as a result of this Manti Te'o ensue. And then Manti Te'o pulls out the trump card and says a catholic priest molested him while at Notre Dame.

I'd be in troll heaven if that were to happen.

Haven't followed today but has the Roniah weasel said anything yet? Or is he still hiding?

No one has seen or heard from him. I'm seriously starting to wonder if this guy is imaginary, too.

Te'o has one option now and one option only. He needs to find a real live girlfriend over the age of 18 who has leukemia or another life-ending disease. He has to get the public back on his side.

Schaap was weak as frick.
No, Schaap was doing exactly what he was supposed to do - toeing the ESPN company line...the "Te'o is a victim in all this" bit.
ESPN is no different than the rest of big media in this country...determined to create and control the narrative, and utterly incapable of admitting they may be wrong.

LOL, thank you!
I think Teo had a half-assed online acquaintance with his 'gf' and may have really believed she 'died'...but I think it's really effing obvious that he lied his arse off about their relationship, not because he was embarrassed, but because he's a big arse attention whore who liked the media attention he got for how brave losing his 'gf' and grandmother on the same day. And he found out at some point but kept lying, because the myth was out of his control...and would have kept lying until deadspin started asking questions in early December.
Either that, or the dude didn't make up those 8 hour phone calls and when they met at Stanford etc. and was trolled for years because he'd the stupidest frick to ever walk the planet...thus, SpongeTeo.

Or the money that comes with a first round draft pick after winning numerous awards and being a hiesman finalist. Fame equals money and with a story like that people, flock to you. The kid who is behind all of this happens to be Te'o's friend and he reportedly gave a fake story to the directors of the voice to try and get a spot on the show. Couldn't Te'o be capable of doing the same thing especially after having a "magical" year and almost winning the Damn hiesman due partially to his story of "overcoming adversity and tragedies". The media eats this stuff up and so do people. shite, whenever watching highlights of this fool I would tell people his story and people would instantly become a fan. In my opinion, Te'o is very capable of this and now after reading his most recent interview things don't really add up. It just doesn't make any Damn sense how he could speak of her the way he did considering the situation.

None of his statements (excuses) account for him talking about her TWO DAYS AFTER he knew it was a hoax.....

As I predicted, this story will slow down after this weekend because of the Holiday and NFL games

NBC is just beside itself that ND's name is constantly in the news, let me tell ya.

I find myself no longer giving a frick about this entire situation.
That's what Te'o, Notre Dame, ESPN, etc. were hoping for.

National news are still airing stuff on it.
It will die down for a little bit, then come draft time it'll explode like a mf'r if he's not come clean by then.
