I would guess it's intended to create a little attention mid race where there otherwise would be none. They basically just drive around and wait for 450 miles and then get after it. Giving them some incentive to race to the front at the midway point creates buzz, I guess.
I dunno, I still watch it. Of oourse, I drink heavily when I do.

Overheating all week has hurt some of these engines. I know that's stating the obvious but I was worried this would start happening.

anyone ever been to Texas Motor Speedway? We just decided to go to the spring night race since we can't make Talladega spring race

Yes, saw IRL and NASCAR races there when I lived in the DFW area. Great venue and the speeds are amazing for a 1.5 mile track.

I've been several times. Nice track and facilities but the race is no where near as exciting as Dega.
