I think it's a must win for the Stros tonight. Not that going down 0-2 on the road is insurmountable, I just don't think they can afford to not take advantage of Dallas and Verlander's starts.

They have put a ton of pressure on Verlander since the got him. He's been unbelievable. He's such a competitor--I love watching him pitch. Both of these teams are so much fun to watch. Can't wait till tonight.

Astros have a combined 9-48 against Hill, Beltran is 3-11, and he likely won't start.

Dodgers 13-65 against Verlander, but 31 of those AB's are from Granderson.

Hindsight and all that, but I think I would have saved Dallas for tonight and had Verlander pitch game 3. He'd have had 2 extra days of rest, and I think he'd have been pretty automatic at Minute Maid. Also, it would have set him up to throw Game 7 in Los Angeles and there's nobody Id rather have going in that situation than him. I think their best chance is to win tonight, win 2 out of 3 in Houston, and then let Verlander close it out in Game 6 in L.A.

My dad said the same thing. Said he would have thrown Peacock in game 1. I just don't like basically conceding a game.

Anyone who suggests not starting your 1 and 2 and saving them for later are dumb. Embarrassing.

If peacock or jabroni get shelled you run the risk of burning the bullpen entirely. .

Peacock’s eyes have been too big as it is. You toss him out in game 1 and he chokes, he is done for the series.

I believe I would put deer in the headlights Springer batting 13. That’s what I believe.

It was kinda nice to be honest.

Yes it was. I agree. I love watching the Astros play....just not for 4 hours straight on a weeknight when I got shite to do starting at 8am the next day.

And if Verlander does Verlander things tonight and the bats find a few runs and a win happens, then all of a sudden this series looks entirely different going back home.

Unfortunately for us Astros fans, the HP ump is hitter friendly tonight, especially to left-hand hitters.

Last night's ump was a known pitcher-friendly ump. Duh.

I don't see that as a negative. Verlander's stuff >>>> Rich Hill's. Hill needs the edges much more than Verlander does.

I understand. It would have been a gamble. I don’t like the idea of “saving” guys either. I just think being a power pitcher, Verlander could have benefited from the extra rest. He threw 17 high stress innings in the ALCS. And if he’s not on tonight, the series is pretty much over. Adrenaline can only take you so far. His velocity will be fine, but his location could suffer. Or he could come out and throw a no-hitter. We’l find out in a few hours.

Does anybody else feel like it’s an all National League world series? Kinda weird

No to Peacock.

If McCullers hadn't gone 4 innings in game 7, then he's an option. However, he did throw 4 innings in game 7 so that would be only two days, so that really left only Keuchel to start.

Or McHugh, but again, you'd almost be conceding a game to throw McHugh opposite Kershaw.

Absolute must win tonight.

1-5 record on the road isn't going to cut it.

Yes. If McCullers doesn't pitch game 7 I wouldn't have been opposed to throwing him last night. But we need Jabroni available in relief and he was the only realistic option outside Keuchel

I dunno, I just feel like you give yourself the best chance to win 4/7 if your 4 best games pitchingwise are not against their best pitcher.

Could have done a peacock start yesterday

You are totally punting on the game I think if you do that and tax the bullpen in the process. Kershaw gave up 4 bombs in his start against Arizona, he is incredible but human. If we had lost last night like 7-5 because we threw Peacock we all would have been furious, hindsight is 20/20.
