Yankees with Severino, Tanaka, Gray, Montgomery all fairly young and under control will be good awhile.....

Then you have Adams, Sheffield, Acevedo, and Guzman not to mention that pen with Kahnle, Green, Dellin, Chapman, Shreve, and Warren all under control

Gray hasn't won a postseason game in his career. Of course all of those games before this year were with Oakland. I think it's psychological for him at this point and hopefully he gets over the hump tonight.

While he hasn't won he really hasn't pitched bad, in 3 starts (16.1 innings) has has allowed 6 runs with a 3.31 ERA....

Yeah but it has to still be demoralizing to go out there and give a good effort with nothing to show for it

It isn't like he has 8 starts... he has 3 and 2 came 4 years ago

Still a different animal from a regular season start

He went from starting the year in oakland to now pitching in the ALCS in Yankee stadium with his team behind in the series. That's a pretty drastic change. He pitched well against Cleveland, hopefully he gets some run support tonight

What? 3.1 innings 3 runs 4 walks is good?

My son's coach-pitch baseball tournament starts at 5 today. Not sure how the league will feel when I have my phone on the mound pitching to my team.

He completely fell apart in the 4th inning but he cruised through the first 3. Yankees weren't scoring that night and I think he knew that in the back of his mind watching Bauer throw. I think he came out trying to match Bauer because that's the only shot he thought they had. All these guys have great stuff or they wouldn't be there. Pitching is very psychological.

What about Betances? What do you make out of his situation? The only team I watch and keep track of is the Astros, so I don't know the full story. All I know is that seemingly not long ago he was a filthy All-Star reliever, and last night he looked like the culmination of a train wreck into a dumpster fire. I would assume they try to fix him this off-season? How invested are they in him, contract wise?

He has some mental hurdles to overcome, I think the Yankees try to trade him either this offseason or next year honestly....

I know...I was just asking about him in general.

With a bullpen as deep as the Yankees have, I don't want to say a talent like Betances is expendable, but it does seem like he would fetch a good return if they were to trade him.

Right now he is behind Chapman, Robertson, Kahnle, Warren it appears....

Next season you can add Shreve to that as well... I think he is at a fragile state mentally, something happened and he became a liability

You think we keep Sabathia for one more year?

Depends on what he wants... not at 25 million he signed this year....
Maybe a 2 years 24 million deal with an option

Listening to Smoltz last night, it seems like a great fit. CC keeps the clubhouse in line and mentors the young pitchers. And why wouldn't a guy who is toward the end of his career want to stay with a team whose stock is rising?

I was honestly shocked when they said he was 37 years old. I would have sworn he was older.

Maybe I have him confused with Bartolo Colon
