Going back and looking at past deals for relievers in August I think we will be able to get a "Plan B" guy like Watson who went to the Dodgers. The Mets got Addison Reed and Fernando Salas the last two years in August for example.

Man that is so frustrating to read.
My immediate reaction is "that's why you don't wait til the last minute" but not sure that's totally fair. I agree that Luhnow set himself up for this to happen (and the Dodgers showed what having a solid plan B was like), but it's gotta be difficult when you're a buyer.
I know deals get done days in advance, but if a team like Baltimore wanted to wait til the final hour(s) of the deadline to see if they'd get a better package, there's not much Jeff could do besides WAY overpaying and he'd be getting raked over the coals just as much if he did that

The tigers are actually competent. They told the orioles to make a decision by Sunday or frick off. Look who got caught up in their shite though
