Tyler White, a righthanded first baseman at Class AAA Fresno, went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs on Monday night in a 10-4 win over New Orleans, homering as he improved his average with runners on base to .500 (39-for-78).
quote:
White, 24, is 5-11 and listed at 225 pounds — not the prettiest of builds. He was a 33rd round pick in 2013 out of Western Carolina University, a school that’s produced 11 big leaguers, per Baseball-Reference.com — Royals closer Greg Holland is the most notable recently — but is far from a powerhouse. At some point, there’s going to be a 12th, although it is unlikely to be this year.
Adding a player to the 40-man roster has ramifications for other players and the Rule 5 draft, but in a season where the Astros say they’re dedicated to winning, keeping White down strictly for that reason creates a counter-intuitive dynamic. Because White’s numbers, since arriving at the level closest to the majors, are absurd: .389/.486/.590 in 37 games, with five home runs and just two more strikeouts (28) than walks (26). He’s had just six hitless games.

Updated: He's 42-81 with RISP (.519).

Release Carter. Add White to the 40 man. Carter has fallen out of favor lately. He's behind Marwin and Valbuena at first and he's terrible off the bench. He's just occupying space.

White .401
Reed .349
Let's check in on Chris Carter

I think you grabbed a pic of Appel by mistake.

Whatever, I'll say it. Appel was a mistake. Too bad he didn't sign with the Pirates. Unfortunately, Luhnow and co. missed on 2 of the 3 #1 picks.

Let's revel in the glory of his final line tonight against a putrid team that would get owned by the AA Hooks:
4.2 innings, 12 hits, 9 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR allowed

I was holding out hope for him. At every level he had struggled out of the gate and then started to figure things out. Coming out of Stanford he was supposed to be near major league ready. But clearly he's not very good. Kris Bryant and Jon Gray have both made the majors and are contributing to the teams that drafted them.

Let's see how Bregman turns out first....but yeah having Nola or Schwarber on this team wouldn't be the worst thing
(I know neither one of those were really 1.1 prospects I'm just being facetious)

Against an ex-Stros farm hand no less. Guy just got lazy because there was no RISP.
