Not sure why JD was saying the personnel wasn't right. You have a strikeout machine who is also prone to GIDP. All you need is a single in 2 AB. I'd take my chances.

No reason not to sacrifice. Even with 1 out, a single could tie it, and you would have 2 outs to try and get that base hit.
ETA: right on CQQ
Also ETA: a sac fly and a single could have tied it as well

I thought he was more concerned with the bottom of the lineup coming up after CJ.

BS! That's a total pinch hit situation.
Get CJ to lay the bunt down, and now we have runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out.
Let Marwin swing away, Then you could pinch hit Castro for Snyder, then pinch hit whoever we had left for the pitcher.

I was wondering the same thing, lot easier to score from second in that situation than first.

Exactly right.
Any combo of things could have gotten those runs home...a wild pitch, a sac fly then single, or a ball in the gap would have scored 2.

I might not have second guessed that move if it were another hitter in the box. I have no faith in CJ when it counts. The only time he does anything is if a pitcher throws him a heater, which I still can't figure out why they don't just throw him junk. When he gets a fastball with no men on base, down 5 runs, in the 8th inning, he will pop one and everyone will start to think he is ok. When it counts, he does what he did last night. I don't even know how many he left on last night but I think I counted at least 8.
I am glad we have the GM we have though. He has no bias and I don't think he will be afraid to make changes. The only downside is our second option, if it comes to that, may be Brett Wallace who is somehow more awful than CJ because he has ZERO power.
I wonder if we'll see Jed get a shot at 3B if Marwin keeps playing this well. He's played 3B in 83 games which is more than I thought. Not sure how his defense would hold up but CJ is no gold glover over there.
Let's get the series tonight!

It's obvious the Astros are still building and need some pieces but it sure does feel like some of these young guys starting have some potential and won't get completely embarrassed. Last year they lost about two dozen 1 or 2 run games. If they can start winning more of those they'll be ok.
