He was trying to get a long term deal done all offseason and the front office wouldn't do it. If anything the motivation for him to come out and perform would have been higher to ink a 5-6 year deal.

He doesn't have dynamite stuff and he's had some pretty shitty luck so far. He isn't as good as last year (or 2014 most likely) but he's also not this bad

Velocity isn't a huge concern if your FB has movement. Keuchel's FB is pretty flat looking and as others have mentioned... it's running up and away from him a lot.

K/9 down
HR/9 Up
Ground Ball Rate/Down
HomeRun, FlyBall Rate/Up
His FiP is 3.81 so he isn't 5.50 ERA bad...
BABIP is .339 when it has been under .300 for the past 2 seasons
Throwing his slider and cutter more than previous years and his fastball less. His velocity is down a little over 1 MPH from last year.

This is just looking at fangraphs to see if he was performing similar to last year but with worse luck.

This has nothing to do with it, but it can't help that the entire staff throws frisbees. There's nothing deceptive about DK's 89 MPH heater when Fister is up there throwing 86.

That staff could really use a fireballer to mix things up, and had exactly that in VV. Until, well, you know

They still have that in Michael Feliz, if they want to transition him to the rotation.

Musgrove should be up soon as well and he throws hard. McCullers throws hard. I think and hope the rotation will look much different next year

He definitely has not been on the same level, but let's also not ignore the fact that his offense is giving him nothing. Average 2.4 runs/game when he starts.
