1. Harden

Has now Lead nba in win shares for 4 straight seasons.
Lead nba in VORP, Raptor, and a host of other metrics.
One of 3 players in NBA history who are CAREER top 10 at points per game, PER, BPM, and WS/48 (lebron and Jordan)
Has lead nba in scoring the last 3 years, and the year before that, he lead the league in assists.
Peak 3 year BPM is third of all time (Jordan and lebron). Harden is currently in his 3 year BPM peak, lebrons was years ago.

2. Lebron

Most self explanatory. Does not give full effort in regular season in most years, but he plays very well in the postseason. In the rockets - lakers series, he was just a little worse than harden, this keeps his from the #1 spot.

also lost more than one game, to a team with Bam out for 2 games and Dragic out for 5, and having to rely on rookies for butlers supporting cast.

3. Kawhi

Could go with Giannis or AD here but I will
Go with kawhi for his ability to create his own offense, and create for others. He is a much improved playmaker as of late. Even witj the epic failure of his team blowing a 3-1 and him playing horribly, I keep him here, for now.

4. Giannis

Recency bias would have some go with AD, but if you replace the two players AD loses in rd 2 to the heat if he is on the bucks and the lakers still win the title with Giannis. So that is a wash. If you take both players without a lebron level playmaker and compare them, the choice is clear. Giannis metrics are better the AD across the board, and he wins more too. Giannis is the better passer, defense is probably pretty close.

5. AD - mostly explained above.

thoughts?

It's about time Boom's family left his house so we can get some intelligent basketball talk around here

Great thread.

KD has a likely career altering injury. Unlikely he is the same player IMO. 80% of who he was is not top 5, but if he can be 90% of who he was, then he very well could be top 5.

Current top 5 after this playoffs:

Lebron - Obvious here with what he just did with a shitty supporting cast.

Butler - Obvious here with what he just did

Murray - Got his team to the conference finals with some dynamite performances

Harden - Still keeps his teams competitive with the crappy supporting cast he always as

Mitchell - Didn't bitch out like Kawhi and Giannis in the playoffs. AD is also a bitch, but in a different and much worst way.

I don’t rank hurt players. I guess I could have called it who are the top 5 players who played last year.

Butler got the harden treatment from the lakers in one game. Game 6. He didn’t do nothing. Harden had better numbers than lebron and he got that double team every time He touched the ball treatment in 4 games.

He also won more than one game, with Bam out for 2 games and Dragic out for 5, and having to rely on rookies for his supporting cast.

Will add this above as part of my reasoning for lebron at #2.
