uh, interesting. Dont know how i feel about the whole players turning into managers that quick, though Boone had some success this year even though hes been out the league longer than Ross. Lord knows what Matheny did to the Cardinals

From Maddon to David Ross. Yikes

He's a 2x champ with like a 20 year career.
Supposedly the young guys treated him like a manager when he was on the team.
I'm totally good with this.

I wanted the Stros bench coach

I love me some David Ross, but I just don't know how I feel about hiring someone with the same amount of coaching experience as I have.

I’m good with it. I liked Espada too.
I get the concerns though.
We’ll see.

The cubs know exactly what kind of presence in the locker room he is.
As more and more coaching decisions are becoming data driven, locker room presence is probably the most important aspect of a managers job.

Im okay with it. I think he has the respect of the younger guys on the team. Even though he has no experience, he was a catcher in the bigs forever.

Hey guys, remember David Ross? Buy Cubs Tickets. Remember that home run he hit in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series? Well now he's back as skipper. Oh he has no experience? Don't worry about that and just head on to Cubs.com to buy those tickets. Ol Grandpa Rossy will rally the troops on another fun summer in the friendly confines. Buy Cubs Tickets.

It's going to be the more same rah rah bullshite that got us from winning it all to laughing stock by the last two weeks of this past season.
Jesus, I swear there is a contingent of Cubs fans that fall for the nostalgia bullshite every goddamn time. The same ones who say shite like "well we did win a world series a couple years ago, just be happy for that. frick that shite. Just like all those who clamored for Ryne Sandberg to manage the team. Talk about dodging a bullet and I say that as someone who grew up as him being my favorite player.
I don't doubt Ross is a good guy and will make a good manager. Just not now and not this team where there are guys he played with. Mark my words, this will be a huge mistake.

Who was your pick Pechon?
I’m of the belief that managers are a little overrated. Embrace the analytics and build a good chemistry within the team. That’s really all they need imo. Sure you’d like some experience but I don’t think that’s everything. Boone has been successful. It also helps to have really good talent.
I wouldn’t lose sleep over this.

1 who did you want?
2 what do you suspect his limitations are being that he never coached?
