Could be a Ryan Theriot type, who kind of bounces around after his time with the Cubs?

Barney is way better than Theriot with the glove and on the bases while being probably a little worse with the bat. Who knows...he might find a home where he is only counted on for his glove.

I want to see Alcantara in the bigs just to inject some speed into the lineup. When's the last time the Cubs had a sparkplug who was really a threat on the bases?

I like Castro. He was probably called up too early, but he's going to be a big part of the Cubs future. My hope is that he moves to 2nd and Baez and he bring us back to the Sandberg/Dunston days.
Baez isn't all that good in the field either. And he's got some major head issues too, although he gets pretty locked in during games and is so good it doesn't really matter. I don't think it would be very pretty with them in the middle together.

How's Alcantara been doing? I want him and AJ Morris to make the bigs.

Doesn't have the TOOTBLN abilities to match theriot.

Tony Campana
I think he only got on base 4 times in his entire career. Fastest guy from the batters box to the dougout though.

he was lighting it up earlier. he's cooling off now, but due to injuries in previous years this is far adn away the most games he's played in a season, so those who really spend time on the prospect stuff were not surprised that hes wearing down a bit...no one is concerned though.
I am not one of those super prospecty guys so this is just a layman's point of view, but i've seen him a handful of times live this year. He's exciting to watch and looks to have the stuff.

What about FAT Lenny Harris. Man he got so huge. Had to bulk up to play for the Cubs, I guess.

This goes well with this thread. Keith Law wrote about which teams had the most organization depth, broken down by position. The Cubbies were his pick at 3rd base.

The Cubs were already deep at third base before trading for Texas prospect Mike Olt but are now deeper at the hot corner than any team in baseball. The group is led by Kris Bryant, the second overall pick in this year's Rule 4 draft, now hitting well in high-A Daytona after tearing apart Boise (where he was old for the level). Jeimer Candelario is a work in progress on defense, but has a patient approach and a simple swing that has many evaluators, myself included, believing he'll hit for average when he's a little older. Christian Villanueva, acquired from Texas last year in the Ryan Dempster trade, could end up a second-division starter. And shortstop Javier Baez may end up at third base, just adding to the team's stockpile at third -- which could prove useful for a future trade for pitching.
