Omar Vizquel!!!!

I cant believe not one person has mentioned Omar Vizquel for SS!!! This guy might be the greatest defensive SS the game has ever seen. He was a marvel out there on the field. He did things i havent seen any other short stop do in my lifetime.

.985% Fielding Percentage (All time leader in the history of MLB)
All time leader in double plays turned in the history of MLB!!
All time record for fewest Errors in a season in MLB history (3 Errors)
2nd All time in games played at SS
11 Gold Gloves
3x All Star (40th all time, 4th amongst SS)
2,878 Hits

Come on people...unbelieveable!!

If you are speaking to me, explain to me how i am trolling? Omar Vizquel is one of the greatest SS to ever play. Defensively, he might be the best. Yet, i see Alex Rodriquez on people's list...lololol!!! Thats trolling.

yeah... no

I'll give you Omar was one of the best defensive SS of all-time. Fielding Percentage doesn't matter because you could just watch him in the field and know he was good. Yet he lacked offensively, so no he would not be included on any all time list.

If I'm doing SS I've got (In no particular order)
Derek Jeter
Cal Ripken Jr
Alex Rodriguez
Barry Larkin
Honus wagner
ozzie smith
Ernie Banks
Alan Trammel
Arky Vaughan
Lou Boudreau

Then you dont know anything about baseball. Omar Vizquel is going to be a Hall of Famer. He lacked offensively???? He is 40th all time in hits. 4th amongst SS....in the history of the game!

He was flashy as frick and I loved to watch him play, but he may not even be one of the 20 greatest Shortstops ever.

well if hits are the indication of best ever then Jeter is the best shortstop to ever play the game right???? Poor Harold Baines, 43 on hits and not in the HOF

Just scanned this thread.

Anyone who made a serious list and didn't include Babe Ruth should never be allowed to post on this site ever again

No, im just pointing out to you that Vizquel was all around AMAZING player. Let me put it like this in terms of offense and defense by SS in the history of MLB!!

Offensively - 2878 Hits (4th all time by SS)
Defensively - 11 Gold Gloves (2nd all time)

So by offense AND defensive standards, Omar Vizquel ranks in the top 5 of both categories. Nobody else does....NOBODY....let that sink in!!

Hits is the underlining factor I suppose then? A longetivity stat. Educate yourself buddy. Do you consider Pete Rose the greatest hitter of all time? Or even top 10?

He is also 7th on the all time Outs list. 7TH! ALL TIME! Offensive production is directly proportionate to not making outs and getting on base. Period.

You go hit a 95 mph fastball over 40 years of age....yes Pete Rose IMO is the greates hitter ever. Longevity should be praised. Not many can do it and do it at a high level. Just because you dont like the fact that Omar Vizquel is 4th all time in hits amongst SS in the history of the game, doesnt make it any less impressive. What are you going to say about his 11 Gold Gloves...which only one other player in the history of the game accomplished? Go educate yourself buddy. Omar Vizquel is a GREAT!!

This tells you absolutely nothing on how productive of an offensive player he was.

Derek Jeter has 5 of them. That tells you all you need to know about the credibility of the idiots that vote on baseball awards.
